<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? Next Tuesday's Timberwolves game against the Portland Trail Blazers at Target Center has become more interesting. Wolves veteran Ricky Davis made sure of that Monday, adding more spice with another round of comments directed at the Blazers. During the second quarter of Saturday night's game at Portland, Davis called the Blazers "a pack of roaches." The Blazers, one of the youngest teams in the NBA, said they were motivated by that remark en route to an 88-86 comeback victory. Portland coach Nate McMillan said he was personally insulted. Davis didn't back down Monday. "If they're looking for something to motivate them, they're coming into the game mentally not ready," he said. The Blazers, who trailed by 16 points after the first quarter, might find even more motivation now. "They're in our division, and they're not going to win the division," Davis said. "How about that?" Davis doesn't put much stock in Portland's performance in the second half Saturday night. "It's one game," he said. "It's not going to do nothing. We just (have to) slow down and make sure when we go up 15, we bury them. Put that in there." In the NBA, trash talk is common. The word "roaches" doesn't exactly rank at the top of the list of the most insulting things to hear. Informed of Davis' remark, Wolves all-star Kevin Garnett wasn't bothered. "I feel like we gave that game away," he said. "I don't think he meant that internally, but I'm not Rick Davis, and I'm not apologizing for him or none of that. Different guys get up different ways. If that's how he's got to get up, that's how he got to get up. "I've been called a little worse than that during the league, especially on opening night. If Nate used that for motivation, then, (heck), it worked for them to get them started up. You shouldn't let comments dictate how you come out and play. I'm sure some of them guys have been called worse than that."</div> Source
