Do NBA players wear ankle supports? I have never seen one wearing them. I was thinking about getting some for basketball season but I figured if the NBA players don't wear them why should I?
I've never worn ankle support either. One of the reasons I prefer High tops when playin bball. High tops on light shoes = BEST ankle support.
Most of them just tape up their ankles. Unless you plan on taping them every time, buy an ankle support.
I've seen some players wear ankle supports...for example Glen Rice, in his later years, wore them. Ankle supports are usually recommended for those that have big issues with their ankles.
I can't really understand how those NBA players can play with all that tape on their feet, it must restrict movement a lot.

I wear em too because of my ankle injuries. I find it the best type are the lace up type. They give the best support. The sleeve ones I have don't seem to support my ankle that much.
<div class="quote_poster">TheKid10 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Do they restrict any of your ankle movements?</div> Last season Tim Duncan had his ankles taped so tight they couldn't move in the shoe. So his foot was practically taped in one direction. It just depends, I wouldn't advise it unless you actually have problems with your ankle. I tried it, and it really hampered my game. But maybe that's just because I wasn't used to it.
I found when I wore ankle braces (or whatever they are called) they restricted movement some (I couldn't jump as high). But I think if I were to sprain my ankle it wouldn't stop the sprain but it would limit how bad the sprain would be.

It isn't restricting at all. I can't even feel it when I'm playing. I like tape a lot better than supports. Supports really restrict movement.
Taping is pretty expensive, especially if you plan on taping your ankles properly. After I tore a ligament in my ankle I taped it up dodgy so as not to use too much tape. Still did the job and stopped me rolling it a couple times. But tape is damn expensive. I've never worn a ankle support but some might not fit in with your shoes. Like my Huarache 2k5's, I don't think they can fit in an ankle support in it.
The downside of ankle supports is when you get twisted, because the next joint that's going to give are your knees.

And yeah, most huraches are to tight fitting to let you wear ankle supports, but they have really good support by themselves.

That is probably true, but if on every ankle sprain averted or reduced their is say a 10% chance of the knee getting a sprain or something. The net result is less injury overall I think.
