is it just me or hasn't sasha done anything yet this season... he didnt score in the 1st 2 games and did not play against the twolves... whats happened to him? u had high hopes for him this year
Sasha is garbage. I've said it over and over again. Thank goodness for Farmar. He is the Lakers future point. Time to release Sasha and free up some space for a more able body.
i also think Farmar is our best point guard so far. He's got a good awareness of the triangle offense already. They can just get rid of smush and vujacic because they are not cabable of dishing the ball.
I still don't understand how Sasha sucks when he barely gets any minutes now to showcase himself. He had one or two bad games, and now everyone is on his ass again. The kid can shoot, and he is better defensively than Smush. Second of all, Sasha isn't a PG, he is a SG aka Shooting Guard. The offense does not run through him nor is he there to get assists. When he gets on the floor, he gives 110% every time and really tries his best. SO the comparisons to Farmar and Smush are null and void. Kobe/Evans/Sasha Smush/Farmar/Williams/Mckie Lastly, people didn't get Radman as hard of a time as they do Sasha when Vlad was stinkin up the first 8-9 games he played. But he gets way more playing time than Sasha and has been able to start getting more comfortable in the offense. Sasha is going to struggle to find minutes now that Kobe is back and Evans is his back up, that's reallly the only reason you don't see him on the court. With Kobe avg'ing 40mpg so far, let's assume the other 8 go to Evans, and 0 go to Sasha. So let's chill on the Sasha hate when the guy hasn't even had BARELY any playing time to try and show what he can do.

Sasha originally played PG in Europe so most of his basketball IQ is at the 1. Look it up! Comparisions between him, Farmar, and Smush are very VALID!!! He started playing more at the 2 when he joined the Lakers. Smush on the other hand played the 2 in college and moved to the 1 with the Lakers....Yet who is our starting Point? Who has more experience at the 1? Sasha. So last season, when they needed a reliable PG, why didnt Sasha step up his game?? Smush was a nobody and the 1 was open to the best man. Why didn't Sasha take the opportunity to become a starter by playing point? It was a postion he had played for years in Europe. He certainly didnt do enough to beat out smush for the starting role last season and has yet to prove to me he belongs on our roster this season. Just because he tries and can hit a high percentage beyond the arc at times does not make him worthy of a spot on a professional basketball team such as the Lakers. I dont care much for Smush either, but he has played a much more important role for the Lakers than Sasha ever has. I can honestly say that without Smush the Lakers would have not made the playoffs. Without Sasha? I think the Lakers would have still been game for a playoff spot. But Sasha can hit threes!!!! So what? Cook and Radman can do the same thing and are harder to find. There are less big men who can shoot the long ball. Guards who can shoot are a dime a dozen. There are many servicable guards who can shoot from the outside. Sasha is pesky on defense? yea, he is annoying like a fly and had a couple good games guarding someone. Why dont they use him to guard tough assignments more often if he was really good? Dont you think the coaches would have recognized that and given him more time on the floor? Sasha is exactly like a fly. Once you swat it, its game over. As far as Im concerned, after watching Sasha play for three seasons with the team, he is very expendable. Its not like he has not had any opportunity to excel with the team. Sasha has been playing for 3 years for the Lakers and these are his averages. He also played the full 82 games last year and did have reasonable playing time. 3.3 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.???.. This is his third year under the triangle, yet he has done nothing I can really remember. Bynum, Turaif, Kwame.. All 2nd year players who have contributed alot to our team. Sasha?? Sorry man. He's the odd man out... Im not hating, but I've been a Laker fan for a very long time and I just state what I see....Sasha is a waste of a good roster spot. He needs to go. We have just 15 spots on our roster and lets give it to a guy who can contribute more off the bench. So far Sasha has not. We dont have time to wait for him to be ready to play. This is the NBA, not a minor league basketball club. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Lastly, people didn't get Radman as hard of a time as they do Sasha when Vlad was stinkin up the first 8-9 games he played. Kobe and Phil had even pushed to sign him, so your arguement is very weak. His bread and butter (shooting hard) is injured, so thats why he is stinking up, but the Lakers want to keep him fluid in the offense so he is still in the rotations. Evans, Smush, and even Farmar have been far more productive at the guard spot while unfortunately Sasha has not. I think comparisions between Radman a PF and Sasha a guard should be null and void! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> So let's chill on the Sasha hate when the guy hasn't even had BARELY any playing time to try and show what he can do. </div> I think he has had more than enough opportunities with the Lakers to show what he can do. When that PG spot was open last season, that was his opporunity and he didnt jump on it. NBA basketball is a league for the best in the world. You better be ready and step up when called upon. Barely any playing time? 1,893 minutes on the hardcourt in the NBA is plenty of time to display your talent and get recognized. Especially in the city of Los Angeles!!!
Trench nailed it on this one. Sasha has played PG and played it last season as well. Now that Farmer was drafted, he sees less time at PG and more at SG.
I think the term "shooter" is vastly overrated when it comes to Sasha. I know it's mental, but why is he still over thinking his shots and not playing off of instinct by now? I always hear he shoots the lights out in practice. In fact he shoots the ball so well, he gets bored and starts shooting with his left. However, when a real game situation comes up, he can deliver, and he's blown every opportunity the coaching staff has given him. The coaches rewarded him for playing well in preseason, by starting him at SHOOTING GUARD on opening night. He went on to clang his shots and was getting abused on defense. Mo Evans subbed in for him and provided the spark off the bench with 17 points to help us beat Phoenix. The difference between Sasha and Mo and Farmar is Mo and Farmar make the most out of their opportunities. What ever is bothering Sasha mentally on game night, it's up to him to figure out.
Sasha is a great player, has size, and a great shooter. I do think he gets nervouse when it comes to game time. Is something psychological. I do think Smush stinks. He was 2 for 7 lat night. Plays no defense and gets taken out of the game easily. I rather see Sasha or Farmar at point. OUt of all three Sasha plays better defense. The only reason why they haven't put the burden on Smush is because the Lakers are 4-1 or otherwise he would be in the bech by now. Just look at the Seattle game. Smush was getting burned and when seattle was shooting the threes he was no where near an offensive player. Trade Smush and McKie....they are garbage.
Trench, thanks for the background check..... I believe that being a PG within the Triangle Offense is DIFFERENT than being a PG in whatever offense his team in europe was running. In the triangle, every player needs to learn how to look for his teammates, dish the ball, and constantly be moving. I think Sasha is a great asset to this team just as much as VLad Radman is, minus the size difference. Sasha has one of the best strokes I've seen, granted he's been having a little trouble this season, more playing time and more shot oppurtunities will help him out.
Yeah everyone is to hard on Sasha, if anything Radman has completely STUNK and I feel like no one not even the commentators ever mention it. I'm aware of his injury, but its obviously not bad enough to where he feels he can't play. I don't feel Sasha deserves a starter spot of course, but he's always been a great spark off the bench and I felt he was more usefull and consistent during the playoffs than Smush was!
Rad-Mullet-Vich was awful last night and PJax chewed him a new one during a timeout. He had 4 or 5 consecutive passes deflected or stolen last night, and was being lazy with swinging the ball in the offense. With Kwame back, Odom will see more time at SF, which means less minutes for Radman. Also Cook was very productive in the 5 minutes he was on the floor. At least the Lakers have the depth to rotate players in and out this season and stick with the guys who are hot on a given night. It's up to the bench players to step up when they get the opportunity.
Sasha sucks, end of story. I can't believe the Lakers extended him for one more season. Say what you want about his shot, but he doesn't make them in games, and that is all that counts. Most of us have heard that Sasha has a nice stroke, and shoots lights out in practice etc. etc. But why does that matter? I don't care if Sasha shoots lights out in practice or how well his stroke looks like, what I care about is how he produces in games. Don't mention to me that Sasha hasn't gotten his "chance" to prove himself. Sasha got the starting nod for one of the games this season and proved that HE SUCKS. For a guy that has been with the team for 3 seasons, he has got to have gotten his fair share of opportunities. If you don't see him on court, there probably is a reason, being that HE SUCKS. Radman has been a disappointment thus far, but he is a proven player. The guy has shown he has the ability to shoot lights out in REGULAR SEASON GAMES, unlike Sasha. The only reason why has hasn't been able to hit most of his shots recently is because HIS HAND IS INJURED. Also, remember that both Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant both pushed hard for the Lakers to sign Vladmir, so obviously the guy can play if one of the best players in the NBA, and one of the best coaches in the NBA want him on the roster. Once Vladmir gets healthy, he will prove to us why we signed him for the MLE
The NBA is a business and unless you show results fast you are in a position to be dismissed. Its the nature of the beast... what have you done for me lately... " ...he gives 110% every time and really tries his best." It doesn't matter if he tries if he doesnt show results he will be traded or released. You dont get close to millions of dollars to "try" you do or you don't.
Sasha got another opportunity to prove his worth last night, playing in 10 minutes. He went 0-2, and got 2 fouls. The guy sucks, simply said. If it wasn't for our horrible depth at point guard, he probably wouldn't even see any minutes on court. On a normal team, I doubt Sasha would even step onto the court.
