<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Hawk)</div><div class='quotemain'>Are you high? Refs did screw the Seahawks which is bad but not calling flags on the Steelers too is just horrible like the delay of game penalty that should've been called.</div> So the two missed field goals, horrible clock management, and Hasselback's INT towards the end of the game had nothing to do with the loss?</div> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DolfanDale)</div><div class='quotemain'>The bottom line is the Seahawks couldn't make plays, so they have to make excuses.</div> Wow, those opinions look good but they ignore Steelers mistakes. It fooled porky at least.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Hawk)</div><div class='quotemain'>Ok, for all you people that think the Seahawks lost because they made mistakes let me say this: Most people do think that the officials screwed up in the Super Bowl now the Pass Interference call was considered a bad call ok, so if the refs were good then that would be a touchdown so Seahawks 17, Steelers 21. Then you got the penalty against Locklear that screwed the Seahawks a touchdown which was also considered a bad call so if the refs weren?t bad, the final score would be Seahawks 24, Steelers 21 therefore the refs DID screw the Seahawks a title -- not the mistakes and when you are talking about the Seahawks making mistakes, I never see Pittsburgh in your posts. The Steelers got NO first downs in the first quarter. Bettis: Sucked. No wonder he's retiring. Ward: New record on worst MVP. Rothlisberger: 2 INT's so don't talk about the Seahawks losing because they sucked. So we sucked, they sucked and the refs won it for them. Also, someone used the word "fact" to defend against my opinion but that word is irrelevant for this -- the refs could be like holding, 10 yard penalty? Were just gonna give them a TD and they could still be called good refs. Just my opinion (don't start crap someone...)</div> Actually, the Steelers mistakes has been brought up more than once. I think everyone can recognize that the Steelers did not play a great game - but they made fewer mistakes than the Seahawks - which is why they won. The pass interference call - you may think most people think it was a bad call, but I am hearing quite the opposite. Everyone I talk to (none of which are particularly Steelers fans) think it was a legit call. You cannot, ever, never, in any situation, regardless of what is going on, use your hand to create seperation from the defender. Furthermore, if you use your hand to create seperation from the defender and the ref is standing right in front of you, it's going to get called. Now I understand players do this all the time, BUT that does not make it legal. Below are the conditions for offensive pass interference: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Actions that constitute offensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Blocking downfield by an offensive player prior to the ball being touched. ( Initiating contact with a defender by shoving or pushing off thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass. © Driving through a defender who has established a position on the field. Actions that do not constitute offensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Incidental contact by a receiver?s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball or neither player is looking for the ball. ( Inadvertent touching of feet when both players are playing the ball or neither player is playing the ball. © Contact that would normally be considered pass interference, but the ball is clearly uncatchable by involved players.</div> If you can say that B was not the case, then I would seriously question the accuracy of your television set. Finally, if any of the Seahawks players are blaming the refs rather than themselves, then I would say that they are poor sportsmen. Sportsmanship knows that some things are beyond your control, like the refs, and what is most important is to put yourself in a position to win the game. The Seahawks, although they had the opportunitiy, did not do that.

" arguement. A lot of ifs here. If they don't count the Ben TD, he might have gotten it on 4th down. If they don't call holding, the Seahawks would have scored a TD. If they don't call pass interference, the Seahawks win... I mean the game would have completely changed if these things all had different outcomes. What is the arguement here? We all know that no one here is omnipotent, so how the heck can anyone know what the outcome would have been IF something else happened? And by the way, the low block call on Hasselbeck was a good call. After I did some homework, I found that you can't go low on a blocker.... period. He made contact with Townsend on that play as well as Taylor which made it a good call in fact. Learn the rules, stop speculating, look forward to next year. Cause right now that's all anyone has.

That is like saying you cant go through blocker to make tackle. The fact that the person returning interception had to leap into air to avoid hasselback shows he was not going low on a blocker, he was diving for a tackle. If rule states that you cant ever go low on a blocker, that is saying you cant dive to make a tackle if there is blocker in area. That is dumb. I think rule is you cant just go low to take out blockers, period. What he did was legal, if it wasnt than it is dumbest rule ever, and I think it was bad call. That being said, refs didnt determine outcome of game. Steelers won it with huge run and gadget play.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.</div> Lol, I only see Steeler fans say that. Your team isn't getting respect now and never will. -- they don't deserve it.</div> I'm not a Steeler fan and you can add me to the list. If you read more than this thread, you would see that I mentioned that Roethlisberger's poor performance has to take some of the joy out of the Super Bowl for him. Yes, the Steelers made some mistakes, but they also made some great plays which was something that the Seahawks didn't do. Perhaps you don't respect the Steelers, but don't assume that for other posters. The Steelers beat the AFC's one, two and three seeds on the road and the NFC Champion without even playing their best game. What I don't respect is all the crying because the Seahawks just couldn't man up and get the job done. I hope someone brought some cheese because the Seahawk supporters brought enough whine for everyone.
Yeah throw my name in the hat. The deserve it. I was rooting for Seattle as well but the game wasn't taken away from Seattle. They blew it. Pitt deserves it. Going on the road and beating the 1, 2, and 3 seeds in the dominat conference.
Well said DD. You really put it down there and from a guy who is a big Dolphin's fan and really know that Miami has a tough road to hoe, it's nice to hear it from someone who has more reason to dislike Pittsburgh in a neutral setting than Seattle. I think as the dust is settling on the game, it's being shown more and more on sports shows just how the game was lost by Seattle and not taken away by the officiating.
And for those of you who still want to cry about the ref's, Gene Wojciechowski wrote a pretty darn good article on ESPN about the whole thing: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/sto...gene&id=2322300 My favorite part: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The striped shirts didn't cause the Seahawks defense to give up a Steelers first down on a third-and-28 situation (which later led to the Roethlisberger disputed TD).</div> Good point. Roth's TD came right after Seattle couldn't get their defense off the field in a 3rd and 28. Missed opportunities.
No one has to rant and rave. It was plain to all but already biased Steeler fans that there was a serious bias in the officiating of the Super Bowl and that the Seahawks got ripped off. It was the worst officiating, so openly unfair I've ever seen. The whole world saw it and knows it Seattle fans so take some solace in that. Of course the Steeler fans will say its untrue but they are in a tiny minority. The rest of the world outside Pennsylvania saw what happened and it was a disgrace. They couldn't beat the Hawks and we all saw that. Unfortunately the refs were playing to the corporate sponsors and biased crowd and so history will remember a very very different game than we all saw. Check yourself Pittsburgh. You lost and the entire world knows it.
I didn't know the refs let Hines Ward come down with a jump ball that was thrown across the field by Big Ben? I didn't know that the refs let Willie Parker run a 75 yard TD? I didn't know the refs forced Matt Hasselback to throw the INT? My point the NFL isn't the WWE. If it was Seattle vs Pittsburgh wouldn't be the Super Bowl. Seattle had their chances. Stevens couldn't catch anything that day and clearly was worried about taken a hit. The game management near the end was awful. 50+ FG's are no easy kicks but since the game was indoors and you'd think Josh Brown would of been good for at least one. Seattle blew it. The refs were awful but Seattle could of overcome it.
