<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There was a time when T.J. Ford imagined himself as a newer Allen Iverson, a tiny cat-quick guard he would emulate throughout his NBA career.

"We're the same height, we're pretty much the same body, just different personalities, different looks, but we have a lot of similarities in our game," Ford said yesterday of his matchup tonight when the Raptors face the Philadelphia 76ers.

"When I look at him I feel like I'm looking at myself and the kind of things I can do."

That might be overstating things ? Ford doesn't have Iverson's MVP award, his scoring titles, his appearances in the NBA final ? but it doesn't take a long look to see the similarities.

They are among the fastest starting guards in the league ? toss Tony Parker into that mix ? and they both like to get to the basket and create turmoil for defenders. But Iverson is a much more accomplished scorer than Ford and a much more dynamic personality.

"I enjoy going up against him. I wish I could play him every day," Ford said. "He's one of my favourite players in the NBA.

"He set a trend. He made basketball popular in the way of having style. ... He's definitely somebody who's a trendsetter and a big part of the reason basketball is so global today."</div>

Ford is a very quick player, but he's more of a playmaker than a scorer like iverson. Ford could be an amazing player much like iverson, if his jumpshot improved and his finishing skills at the hoop got better. Also, the only way to be like iverson is to play every game like its your last and sacrifice your body on every play. not alot of people can do that...

I'm concerned about more of his finisher, it could really hurt us during the season with all those missed layups.

Obviously one huge difference between them is Iverson's far superior finishing ability, and ability to draw fouls, and while not being a good shooter, he's a superior shooter to Ford also.
