i hate to be judgemental this early in the season as weve only played 5 games but we dont look like the suns we used to be we actually cant win games. and we are turning into consistent chockers with 4 from 4 losses weve lead and blown the lead in. its starting to bug me cuz it was meant to be such a promising season and at the moment looks more like we be nearly gettin greg oden (gonna go no.1 in draft). im kinda sick of our team working around gettin amare back i think less focus needs to be on amare and more on actually winning games.
well I think they're not much of a defensive team, they rely on their offense to click on all cylinders to win games, and right now their offense is not clicking as Nash is still trying to figure out how to use all the options that he has right now - getting Amare and Kurt Thomas back in makes them a bit slower than last year when it was all Eddie House and Raja Bell and Barbosa running up and down the floor. But they will be okay. I think by the all-star break they will be a much better team than last year and a legitimate championship contender. Amare looked SOLID tonight and Kurt Thomas is a good lowpost defender AND he can hit open shots.
The key reason why you guys aren't winning is defense. You're relying too much on offense and not putting forth any effort whatsoever on defense. That's why you're averaging over 100something points and still managing to lose. The other achilles heel is your rebounding. Watching the game tonight, your average rebounding margin was something like -12rpg, and if you want to win in this league, getting pummeled like that on the boards is not a good way to do it. You guys need to step it up on defense and grab some more boards. Also on rebounding, each time I've been able to catch you guys this year, you get pummeled in the paint as well, and you're giving up a lot of offensive rebounds, which goes along with rebounding. If you want to win, maybe D'Antoni should rethink his style and maybe, just maybe, focus at least a little on defense and rebounding instead of none at all.
I'll put it this way: The Pheonix Suns are a glorified version of the early 2000 Nets. Jason Kidd for whatever reason didn't get his due like Steve Nash has, and he made it to the finals twice, but that's neither here nor there. The point is- New Jersey found that the fast pace style doesn't work in the finals. Pheonix should learn that lesson cause as good as Steve Nash is, Jkidd was better.
The fast style wins games... but it doesnt win series'... IMO the phx suns envision that other teams cant take them and coz of that they think all their shots are gonna go in which are not... on the other hand the other teams are now used to them and know how to fight back... in other words the phoenix suns have been "checked".
Well, you guys are trying to install Amare back in your offense. Also, Kurt Thomas is starting a lot of games and you guys can have a fast lineup to run on people. You guys need to be patient for Amare to step up again and be the player he was. Boris Diaw though hasn't done as much as he should be doing for you guys.
if you guys trade amare u might get some more production in return because he doesn't seem to fit too well in your system right now. you can get plenty in return off him

Phil Jackson and the Lakers did the entire league a HUGE favor last season when they pushed pheonix to 7 games. Don't think other teams aren't dissecting that series and making note of every stop the Lakers got. When the Lakers slowed the suns down by pounding it inside- Pheonix had nothing. Only when the Lakers succumbed to the Sun's fast paced style was pheonix able to come roaring back. The leauge know's how to stop the sun's now and it's showing. Remember, Dallas didn't win a title with Nash at the helm- why would Pheonix?

Suns have never been known for defense, but you focus on your strong point and try to improve on the other. Anyone catch the game verse San Antonio??? Suns defense was great in that game, the score did not reflect it because it went into overtime. We are not closing out games. How many games have we been blown out in??? NONE Amare is our closer, we need him. D'Antoni knew this season would be a work in progress all the way up to the allstar break. The league has never seen anything like the suns, comparing them to the nets of 2000 shows me some of you have not watched many Suns games. The reasons we have not gotten to the finals are two-part 1) 2 seasons ago Joe Johnson had his face smashed in at the Conference finals, and we had no bench. No Joe, no bench= No championship. 2) Last season we still had a less than average bench and No Amare. It is not working this season because we have to integrate Amare back into the system, this will take time. And lastly I'm am tired of all the critics saying the suns do not focus at all on defense. Yes, they will never be a Detroit or San Antonio on the defense, but as the season progresses they will get better at the D' end just like they were last year before Kurt was injured. You all preach defense, but the Suns have not lost because of their lack there of. These games have come down to the fact the Suns offense goes stagnant in the last couple minutes and it has not in past years. Not one team has held the suns under 104 points, thus something tells me that maybe the suns style is the reason the scores are so high not their D. Yes we have flaws, and no we are still not that amazing D threat that everyone wants us to be. It seems that most old school coaches and players are waiting for the suns to fail so they can say the only way to win is their style and not be forced to resort to an uptempo style if it wins championships. Our starting lineup has chnaged every game thus far. Once all the kinks are worked out we will come around. Until then good luck to the rest of you and your teams.
It's the beginning of the season. Another factor could be that a lot of teams have also changed their styles and are ready to match the Suns scoring output out of the gun this year, but they should get it together.
