<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Magic rookie guard J.J. Redick was speaking to the basketball team at Montverde Academy on Tuesday and then opened the floor to questions. "The coach's son asked me what I loved most about basketball," Redick said. "I was like, 'Winning.' Not dribbling, not shooting. It's winning. I love competing. That's the thing that's been missing." Redick, who was drafted by the Magic in June after a decorated four-year career at Duke, has not appeared in a regular-season game yet. He dressed for one but did not play. He fell behind in training camp after dealing with injuries. "I don't care about accolades or attention," he said. "I love playing basketball. That's what I want to do. That's been the most frustrating part, not being able to go out there and compete every night to help the team win."</div> Source
I never would have guessed that a competitor like JJ hates not playing. I can't believe people get paid for writing stuff like this.
In other news, Dwight Howard is tall. The main reason I posted this article was because I thought Redick was really injured. If he is healthy then why isn't he getting playing time? If you're going to draft someone with the #11 pick, why are you playing guys like Travis Diener over him? Doesn't make much sense if you ask me.
It's understandable. He came out of college as one of the best players on his team and even in the entire NCAA, so of course he'd feel somewhat down about it. With Dooling, Arroyo and Bogans coming off the bench, I don't think that there is much of a choice when it comes to Redick anyway.

As NCAA fans, we can become accustomed to seeing guys like Redick playing the entire game so when they start from scratch in the NBA it's a bit of a shock to us. It's not a reflection of Redick's lack of talent though but rather the team's unwillingness to launch him into immediate playing time with his inexperience. Every year there are a select handful of rookies who are ready for that. Odds are with the #11 pick you won't get one of those rookies though. Who would you have rather had, Ronnie Brewer? He's not seeing the light of day either. Neither are Rodney Carney, Shannon Brown, Shawne Williams, etc.
it's cos redick is wack nah im kidding. I'm sure he'll get playing time when his time comes he just needs to keep trying harder in practice. How many games have Orlando played like 5? if he hasn't had good playing time within a few months then he should start complaining.

He's not even on the active roster. Travis Diener and Pat Garrity have been in front of him on the active roster and they do basically the same things JJ does, but not as good. He's dressed for 1 game so far this season and didn't play. Now with Ariza back, it doesn't look like he will get into the rotation any time soon. We have Grant Hill, Keyon Dooling(playing great), Keith Bogans, Hedo Turkoglu, Trevor Ariza now all ahead of JJ. I think Ronnie Brewer would have gotten some PT for us. Nothing significant, but he was not injured throughout the offseason. He has been playing and knows the Jazz system. JJ hasn't been able to practice much. Barring injuries, I don't see JJ getting much action any time soon.
