    Fortson Now "Mr. Manners"

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The big man was going to blow. It was obvious. Especially to Sonics assistant Jack Sikma, who saw the whole thing unfolding from the sideline and screamed: "Danny! No!"

Too late. Danny Fortson was on the move. He made a beeline toward referee Jack Nies after the veteran official whistled him with a traveling violation late in the first quarter of Seattle's game against Orlando on Wednesday.

Perhaps sensing trouble, Luke Ridnour rushed to intervene, but before he reached the rampaging forward, Fortson stopped suddenly, smacked the basketball before dropping it to the floor and ran to the other end of the court without saying a word.

A few minutes later during a timeout, Fortson huddled with Nies. Draping a beefy bicep around the official's shoulders, Fortson smiled as they exchanged a few words. And then they laughed.

The scene was in stark contrast to Fortson's frequent run-ins with referees.

Last season, he forfeited $188,543 in fines and lost pay after racking up seven technical fouls in 23 games.

After four games this season, there appears to be a truce between the officials and Fortson, who was once regarded as the third member of the unholy trinity of NBA malcontents that includes Detroit's Rasheed Wallace and Sacramento's Ron Artest.

"I now know, what's the use?" Fortson said. "I'm going to [mess] around and have a heart attack. Seriously, I'm going to have a heart attack if I'm [messing] with them. Somebody is going to have to give me CPR and drag me off the court.

"So I'm done. I don't have [anything] to say to them anymore."</div>

They still give him bogus calls, surely it'll wear thin after awhile.

According to Percy Allen Fortson had this to say recently...
