I have a friend who says is "perception is reality" and all this banter is sadly making me believe may be right. Very few times have people (myself included) asked what makes you believe that? I am sure there are plenty of Ladies laughing as this yet another example of men, their egos, & obsessive desire to not only compete but also always have to one up the next guy. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2005)</div><div class='quotemain'>All I hear is "It wasn't fair, the refs gave the game away! Wah Wah!" Prove me wrong, don't cry about what didn't happen.</div> I don't how one can cry about what didn't happen. Please explain that to me but I?ll need proof. You can whine about what did occur. Its too subjective/speculative to say what might have happened. I never said it wasn't fair nor did I say they weren't penalties. It is the timing that will always bother me. At one point, I could've said if these sames refs called the Rams/Titans Super Bowl then Dyson would've scored. Like I said, that calls for an incredible amount of speculation so I won't say it. This same friend is a hardcore Steeler fan and agrees that the timing was lousy. He moonlights as a basketball ref and knows how the importance of timing/momentum in a sporting event. After some thought, here is what I posted in another thread (http://www.nfl-forums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=55541#p55541) <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bA)</div><div class='quotemain'>A few points. I apologize for getting philosophical and using a lot of analogies but that just yours truly I am reminded of that old real estate adage; Location, location, location! Where you are is very important. Does that carry over to the NFL? I don't know. The reason many in the media choose the Steelers is they went with the Devil they know versus the devil they didn't. Outside of Microsoft, Coffee, & Grunge how many people know that much about Seattle? Then there is always the time zone difference between Seattle and the east coast. The steel city is east of the Mississippi River therefore in the eastern US and a damn sight closer to the east coast (where the media is based) then Seattle. I agree that the NFL is a business but that IMO is weak justifcation to explain why Pittsburgh won. If the same teams win over & over then less people will be interested and revenue will shrink. I can't help but wonder if this controversy was created in order to generate buzz, increase interest, & eventually pump up the bottom line. That is just not right right IMO. The NFL already has a great product and should not need to result to dirty tricks to further their greed. After all, that's what Enron & Bernie Ebbers are for. Right?</div> The question, for all Pittsburgh fans, how would you feel if you were on the other end in the biggest game of the year?? That's what I thought. It?s real easy to take the alleged moral high ground when things broke your way. They needed to let 'em play after all it was the Super bowl
I know some of you will take exception to my post and that is too bad. I can't promise I won't post of this again but will do my damndest not to do so. I am sarcastic, a contrarian, and love to play devils advocate. Should you feel the need to get personal then shoot me a private message.
going back to what BA said about a Time zone thing. they should select an area in mid MO or something in middle of country, and make that designated SB stadium, that way (unless thats where you live) , everyone feels some time affectrs

Those in Delaware have more than likely moved on by the time a game in San Diego starts. The Super Bowl is held in a neutral site at least until next year. LOL.

The Superbowl wasn't fixed, no matter what anyone says. I am not a big Steelers fan at all, in fact, I'm from Pennsylvania, and they are my least favorite team. However, I respect the players, the team, and the fans enough to say that it wasn't fixed. The Superbowl will never be fixed, but it seems like every year, people from the losing side have to flip out, and cause trouble on just about every forum online. I've seen many, been a part of several, and although this may be my first post on this forum, I'm no rookie to this. I will be the first to admit that there were some controversial calls in the game, but it's over, it's done with, there's nothing that anyone can do about it, so we might as well stop arguing now. Congrats to the Steelers and their fans, enjoy it.
Once again. I'm not from the "losing side" I'm not from Seattle! I actually like the Steelers more as a town and the fabns they are way more my style. However I have to much respecct for the players and game to let this nonsense slide. Again I'm not from Seatlle!!! A Yahoo poll yesterday of over 150,000 people proves my point. It asked what will you remember from this SuperBowl. 70% said "The refs blowing crucial calls that cost Seattle the game". Enough said. The fact is theres no way to prove it was fixed but the play calling was so poor and biased in so many crucial situations it sure seemed so. Sorry y'all but no matter what you think this SuperBowl will be remembered for all the blown calls. There were just too many! And I'm also sorry but the Steelers won't be recognized as legit champs. Too many people saw what happened.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2005)</div><div class='quotemain'>http://www.profootballtalk.com/SeahawksBaby.jpg Anyone else find this funny?</div> Its too bad the overwhelming majority of people who agree that the refs were biased aren't Seattle fans! They're all just impartial people who were watching the Superbowl! Not biased fans for either side, like say you! Wow what a suprise you are happy the Stealers "won" you're a Stealers fan! But deep down you know it. How can that many calls in that many crucial situations that could go either way go the Stealers way? They'll never be considered legit champs by the majority of people. Sorry the truth hurts. And again if I or anyone else were crybaby Seattle fans that would be funny, but I'm not and neither are most of the people that agree with me!
I hope the ask the same question in a few years. The Super Bowl just happened to be a week ago as if we all didn't already no but my point is off course people will say the refs blew it and that's what they're remember. It's still a hot topic with the media. In a few years most people will remember the score and Bettis winning the game. Example 1: Packers vs 49ers in the Wild Card of 98-99 season I think it was. Jerry Rice fumbled. The NFL admitted the mistake and at that time the Packer fans and most football fans were upset. The refs ruled him down and that lead to what is now called "The Catch Part II" That's been 7 years and people forgot already as they will with this game. This ultimately played a role into adding instant replay. The SB wasn't rigged. Simple as that. Now the one thing I won't rule out completely is that the refs are part time refs and they only make about 40,000 a year so maybe they had something tied into the game. Gambling is possible but again unlikely. I heard someone say that on Rome this mourning. I agree exactly with what Rome said. Is that possible. Sure but I don't think that's what happened. Hell Indy vs Pitt was important and already people have forgotten about the refs in that game. They'll move on. Everyone does. The only people that may hold a grudge will be Seattle fans. As for 150,000 people. Considering that over 50 million watched the game. That's not that much either. I'm going to say the majority will vote that the refs were bad but the majority would vote that the game wasn't rigged. I've only seen 2 people out of 3 boards I go to that think the game was actually rigged. I've seen a lot say the refs were bad but most don't think it was rigged. The game wasn?t rigged. If it was I think the NFL needs to call Vince McMahon up for advice on storylines because this storyline was horrible then. No way was it rigged though. That?s not how the NFL works. Last I saw the NFL had no control over Seattle?s secondary on the Big Ben throw on 3rd and 26 that setup the TD run. They didn?t have control over the game management and the two 50+ missed field goals indoor. Not a sure thing type of kick but you?d think Seattle would set them up better and that he?d be good for at least one kick indoors. You can complain about the refs being bad. I agree with that, though I don?t think you can put the entire blame on the refs for Seattle losing but saying the game was in fact rigged is ridiculous.
The Seahawks lost the Super Bowl and I'm not complaining anymore. Why?, I like the fact that we were probably the greatest Super Bowl loser in history and most people do think the refs favored the Steelers and the Seahawks will be back for another great season and even if the 2006 season isn't as great for the Seahawks, they can still make the Super Bowl since the NFC is the weaker conference (that?s a good thing IMO ). I'm going to let everyone else do the complaining.

Porky, i doubt anybody forgot about those refs in the Indy game. ive never seen a worse call than on the Polamalu INT. The thing that sticks out in everyones minds, is what happened n the 1 yd line, and Bettis fumbling
