Our European roster isn't preventing Mitchell from drawing up a set play or coming up with a defensive scheme that actually works.</div>

i'll settle for a competent coach. bring butch carter back!!! imagine what he do with our unique parts, plus, he lives in oakville.

Just to add to what I said earlier. I think that losing has made me a bit cynical of things involving the Raptors. It seems like it has been forever since the consecutive seasons where we've made the playoffs.

Kevin O'Neill proved that you can make a team into a decent defensive team, if you know how to teach it properly. Even though that team was difficult to watch, they played well defensively.

yeah but they undermined their offense and offensive rebounding in order to do so. plus, they weren't an exceptional defense, they maintained a very good opponents field goal percentage, a consequence of them packing it in defensively (running back and clogging the lanes), however they never made crucial stops. i can remember a game against memphis where jason williams lit up jalen rose like a christmas tree and k.o never brought over another defender to force it out of j.will's hands. plus, what sane coach would allow jalen rose to defend one of the quickest guards in the league one on one. moreover, the raptors didn't have the personnel to play that style but k.o. never adapted his style. what i'm trying to say is that mitchell is freakin phil jackson compared to k.o.

I lost all my respect for Sam after Kobe scored 81 points on us. How anyone can still give him credit after that is beyond me. The dude would do fine as an assistant coach but he is not head coach material. I would love if we got Rick Adelman, but looks like it won't happen this year with Sam at the helms. Our team is going to be good (better than the Celtics [IMG]) but a lot of team's success depends on how a coach utilizes thier players. Flip Saunders and Larry Brown utilized virtually the same Pistons team in two different ways and got two different results. If you're going to push for an "uptempo" offense, you need an excellent offensive coach, and after having watched Sam Mitchell in the past running the same pick and roll plays 90 straight times, he is not the right fit for this team.

This wen't from being a "its hard being a raptors fan", to "lets roast Mitchell"
agreed, he does suck......its nice putting spare parts all over the place, but I think you have to define who plays with who so they can get some chemistry...if he puts T.J. and Jose on the floor at the same time (it has been speculated) i'm gonna barf.

That wasn't an amazing defensive team O'Neill coached that year, it was clock management at its best. On offense we'd make use of those 24 seconds on almost every possession. Patience on offense was an exaggeration. We must of set a record for clock violations that season. With the amount of time of possession we racked up that season, it meant a lesser amount of time that the opponents had to use to score. Meaning the majority of our games resulted in below average with repect to points given up per game. That season was nothing to brag about.

Anyhow, the sky hasn't fallen yet fellas. Chins up, we're still a new team getting used to one another. But I will join the masses here and question if Sam really has a clue of how to coach out there. Sam isn't entirely to blame, because at some point the players need to man up and be responsible for their actions. Or lack there of at this point in the season so far.
