<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Doc Rivers was discussing NBA Developmental League possibilities before last night?s 92-89 loss to the Orlando Magic at the Garden, and the Celtics coach made a point to pull Leon Powe out of that fire.

?Though he hasn?t played, I think there is a team need in situations where Leon could play for this team,? Rivers said of the rookie big man. ?So he?s a guy that I can almost with certainty say will not be going down to the D League.?

The coach was a prophet of sorts.

When Ryan Gomes and Brian Scalabrine picked up two early fouls apiece, Powe made his NBA debut. He entered 4:23 into the game, and 25 minutes of playing time later he had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

Powe got his first NBA rebound by immediately taking down the carom of Dwight Howard?s errant free throw. His first NBA point came from the foul line 16 seconds later.

?Oh, Powe was great,? Rivers said. ?Powe was absolutely tremendous. As you can see he really struggles running the stuff, and so he limits you in that way. And he?ll get better in that. It?s just going to take him some time. Every play you can see Paul (Pierce) and Wally (Szczerbiak) saying, ?Go over here. Come over here.? I think he?ll get it eventually, and the quicker he gets it the better he makes us. He?s physical, he can rebound and he?s an aggressive scorer when he gets the ball in the post. So that was the silver lining in the game.?

Powe was just doing what he knows.

?When my name was called, I was going to be ready,? he said. ?I was comfortable. I was just playing my game. I just feel that I can rebound, I can score a few points and just bring energy.?

Considering the Celts? needs in those areas, the opportunities for Powe should increase. </div>

We need more of him in the game. I'm getting sick of this losing streak. As of today we have the worst record in the NBA, these are games we should be converting.

amen! has anyone else noticed that:

when Rondo is in the game good things start to happen

when Powe is in the game good things start to happen (last night anyway)

when Green is in the game, good things don''t nessecarily happen but at least he hasn't been as bad as Tony Allen?

and yet these guys are still getting screwed for minutes by the likes of Tony Allen and BRIAN SCALABRINE????

I was at this game and Powe brought so much excitement to it! When he came into the game and left the game the crowd went crazy. They fans really responded to him in a positive way, considering he gave the team a "burst" of energy. Hereally deserves to play some more minutes, especially since Jefferson is out.

Do you think the Celtics can get away with playing Gomes and Powe at the same time?

I know they're both undersized, but these two are rebounding machines and work hard in the post.

I definitely think they can get away with those two getting minutes together. Anything if it means Veal disappears night after night. I'm finding it hard to believe that Scal gets minutes before some of these guys.
