Mortenson reporting that the Chargers are seriously considering letting Drew Brees test the free agent market....its a gamble for them if they do....they are hoping theres minimal interest and he will be forced to come back at a low salary, but i dont see it....Id be very happy to see him in Miami if hes healthy....I suspect they will regret the decision if they dont do something to protect him....it would be best for everyone if they just decide who is going to be the future and get something for the other guy, but the injury makes him a risky propostion for them....they cant trade Rivers if they dont know hes healthy, and they cant commit to Brees(which is what I think they'd prefer to do) if hes hurt....heres to hoping that thier problem works right into Nick Sabans hands....

If Brees tests the free agent market, I predict Detroit will go after him big time...

Really? I heard that A.J Smith offered him a 5-year contract earlier this week. Brees just hasn't responded yet.

Brees would be one of the most coveted free agents if his shoulder tests out alright especially since the QB's in the free agency aren't really the most sought after players in the free agent market and the need for QB is actually rather high right now.

Detroit would be a good fit for him. Also I would like to see him in Miami, with Brown and Williams in the backfield and Chambers Booker and McMicahel in the passing game.

Also Brown was a great pass catcher in college.

The jets can't afford the value menu at Taco Bell.

I personally would let the brees blow elsewhere than S Fla.

I would rather Saban acquire Drew Olson (UCLA), Basanez (Nwestern), or Reggie McNeal (Tx A & M) in the rd or 4th round if Cutler is gone at #16.

I agree that Detroit seems like the natural fit. San Diego is in a nice position having their two QBs. Personally, though, I'd hold onto Brees and deal Rivers. Rivers is completely unproven in a real game.

I think the Chargers are stupid for even thinking about letting go of Brees, shoulder injury or not, he doesn't deserve that. He's done alot for that team and I can't imagine that their fans would be too happy either.

Although, Brees going to the Dolphins would make them pretty freaken' scary. I'd like to see Brees go to the Lions, just because I've always had a soft spot for those under-dogs, lol. Maybe Dallas should look at him, although Parcells is in love with Bledsoe, they need to look towards their future, and Henson obviously isn't the answer.

If I were Brees, Miami would look pretty nice. Not only do you go from probably the best weather in the US to the second best weather in the US, you also get away from a situation where people are constantly talking about your backup. Miami is coming around nicely and Brees would definitely fit in nicely.

drew brees hitting the market and them hoping that he'll come back to a smaller SALARY? ok now thats just stupidity but u do have to take into account he did suffer a shoulder cuff injury i do not knwo the severity of that or for that matter remember whcih shoulder it was on but im interested to see how he heals and his recovery rate and if it affects and aspect of his game but bak to the topic man ohhhh man chargers fans should be in a uproar b/c this guy is good and rivers has but one start or 2 in the preseason!!! cmon now they have to think this through cause when healthy hes a good qb that for the most part can stretch the field and can scramble outta pressure situations if needed but the chargers would almost be back to square one i mean rivers has proven nothing b/c hes been behind brees and ill say it i saw him on the tube play for the boilermakers and i knew that he'd be a decent qb in the nfl some didn't even think he'd do what hes doing but that'd just be a total disappointment for them jeez look at the team they have but the qb is crucial without the shoulder injury they wouldnt even of had any preconceived notions ok im done typing lol thats enuf but u know my perspective!

If Brees feels unappreciated in SD, I know a place that he could be a star....come SE young man, and enjoy the fruits of any QB that plays well in a city that hasnt seen a good QB in a while....if he played as well as he played in SD the past few years, Miami would embrace him, and I dont think he'd have to look over his shoulder too much at Sage Rosenfels....

I hope he does get released so that Philip Rivers gets his shot. Philip Rivers is a extremly accurate QB and will be ready for next years
