Pierce said before last night?s collar-loosening 114-88 win over Indiana. ?Definitely we have a ways to go, but with the conference down right now a little bit I feel like we are a playoff team.? As such, he was looking for a silver lining to the poor opening. ?I think if we?re going to have these type of lulls, it?s better early,? Pierce said. ?Hopefully we can learn from it and get better as the season goes along. These type of runs we don?t want to have late in the season when we?re pushing for the playoffs. Hopefully we can learn from this and not get too deep into the hole so we find ourselves scratching and clawing when it?s that time to try to make our run.? As for his young teammates, Pierce said, ?We?ve just got to be patient with them. It?s easy to get frustrated with them. Just like a newborn baby. You want them to be a certain way so fast. You want them to grow up so fast that you don?t understand they?re still young and they have to grow and learn. That?s the phase that we?re in. We?re still learning how to win.? </div> Source
I don't mean to sound like a hard-on about this, but can we grow and learn how to win already? Enough talk for God's sake. As for Pierce looking to be optimistic, I see no reason why he shouldn't be, he's the leader of this team, and he's playing well, so why not?
good. I want him to expect us to make the playoffs and I want the celtics to do everything they can to make them. All this talk about Greg Oden is pretty silly. The Celtics just aren't bad enough to end up with the worst record in the league as much as pessimistic fans would like to believe otherwise. it just isn't going to happen. Even if we ended up with the worst record in the league wed probably get screwed in the lottery again.
Pierce said that so well. So what is they have had a bad start, they may turn it around and play good basketball for the next 74 games. in that case who is to say they cant make the playoffs, it has only been 8 games for goodness sake!
The only chance we have at making the playoffs is if we make some sort of trade that significantly improves the roster.
