<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Although he remains unhappy with a more limited role this season on the 76ers, veteran forward Chris Webber said today he has not asked to be traded from the team. The Sacramento Bee reported yesterday that Webber had asked Sixers president and general manager Billy King for a trade, quoting him as saying, "I don't like this role. So you can take that however you want." But speaking today after the Sixers' morning shootaround, Webber denied making a trade demand. "No, I haven't asked to be traded," he said. 'I did say I was frustrated with the situation but that's pretty much as far as it goes. You [reporters] probably have been in the locker room when I said I was frustrated. But that's probably about it." Webber said he had conducted "many conversations" with King, but they were mostly devoted to the team's status after a certain number of games and what the expectations were. Asked if he talked to King about his role, Webber replied, "He knows I'm frustrated. It's obvious just from the time that I played before and the time that I'm playing now. So I think the speculation by people is correct, saying that I was frustrated. But besides that, it's nothing more." The Sixers, who will play the Phoenix Suns at U.S. Airways Center, have played seven games thus far, and Webber has not played in the fourth quarter in three of them. His averages of 30.7 minutes and 10.3 points are well below his numbers from last season. Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said he understands Webber's frustration but stressed that all decisions he makes are for the good of the team. "Everything we do is as a team; this is all about our team," Cheeks said today. "I like guys that want to be on the floor. I understand his frustration. But this is about our basketball team. This is nothing personal about any one guy. It's not about one individual." In a statement last night, King acknowledged that he had spoken with Webber and that he was "an important member of this team." "Maurice has been making decisions each game that he and the staff feel will give us the best opportunity to succeed and I support him in his decision-making process," King said. Webber said he understands that there is criticism of him back in Philadelphia and that he has to deal with it. "Hopefully the people in Philadelphia will see that it's not like that," he said. "Actually, I think I told [reporters] that this was the first year I felt like Philly was really home and I'm settled here and I was excited. So I think that would be pretty drastic to go from one end to the other in two months." </div> Link
Backpeddling once again. Webber looked last night in the Suns game. How many times was he caught at halfcourt, before Phoenix was already done scoring and getting back on offense?
This team seriously needs to get rid of webber. im sure its POSSIBLE to trade him, and if it is they definately should.
^It`s possible but with a contract so high like his, its hard to unload him. Theres only been 8 games in the freaking season and there is already all this crap about him wanting out. Grrr...

BTW-cant Garnett opt out of his contract after this year? if both he and webber did maybe he would take a pay cut to play with AI. i think the sixers would be a much better fit for garnett than alot of other teams, including the lakers. It would be, Iverson is one of the great gaurds of all time, still in his prime, playing alongside one of the great forwards of all time, who is also still an MVP callibur player. The supporting cast would be great, with igoudala, dalembert, korver, green, williams, and carney. I think that team might be better than just about any other team who garnett could sign with.

That would be crazy. If the Twolves suck this season and Webber gets really pissed it's possible. LOL
