If I'm not wrong, the NBA allows every team to have one retro jersey. The yellow Cavs jersey you're referring to is last year's retro jersey and most likely won't be worn this year, and the orange is this year's retro. If you're not too young to remember, the Lakers had the blue retro a few years ago. And most teams only have two jerseys.

BUT if the NBA allows teams to have 1 retro jersey aside from the other jersey's why dont the lakers use the minneapolis one in some of their road games? so you mean to tell me some recent jerseys that were worn maybe last year or the year before arent being used this year?
Damn that blue Lakers' retro jersey is the most beautiful jersey I've ever seen, really. Cavaliers' orange retro looks pretty also. I'm thinking about ordering this, 80 dollars, swingman jersey.

The retro ones at least won't be used in a while. And the MLPS baby blue jersey has been used already, a few years ago if I don't remember wrong. Retro jerseys are mostly just ways to sell more jerseys, unless it's to mark a special anniversary or something.

Each team get's three jerseys. Home, Away, Alternate. The retro jerseys are special and teams onlky get one a year if they get one at all. That brings the total possibility to 4 jerseys. To my knoweldge a team has to have a jersey design for atleast 1 season to get a third(alternate)
