very very very very upset.... there is trouble where they are trying to make a collective bargaining agreement. I heard on the radio that Gene Upshaw announced that they should not expect a new collective bargaining agreement by this year and next year they should not expect a salary cap in football. Let that sink in no salary cap. This is what i hate about the MLB, there is no salary cap so the teams arent that competative all the time. Ex. Yankees 200 mill then KC Royals 45 mill. Its ridiculous. Imagine in the NFL a team emerges as a team that just keep buying every good player for a ridiculous amount of money. It'll be awful for the NFL as it is awful for the MLB. i really really hope that this is sorted out and that there will be a salary cap for the sake of me watching the NFL, and its competativeness.
I can't see this actually happening. The salary cap is one of the reasons for the success of football. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just politicking going on...
Revenue sharing is the key to the success of the NFL. The owners should have no problem with an increased cap. But yes there should always be a cap. The league is the most successful of all the major sports & it's only fair that the players get a piece of the pie.

I agree with your politicking comment, but on the other hand you know how long these things can stretch out before an agreement. The Patriots just decided not to tag Vinatieri because (according to BB) it didn't make sense to make any moves when they don't know what the cap is going to be yet. Thats probably not the complete truth, but if there is a little truth to it, then there is a big issue. Teams are going to want to agree - or at least agree to disagree (no cap) - so they can move forward. How long is everyone going to wait. Draft day is less than 2 months away....
There will be a salary cap in 2006. It's the 2007 season that's in question. The deal will get done... But it'll go down to the wire.
No salary cap in football would be terrible, I can't see it happening. I think the NFL knows that'd it be bad for the sport, and hopefully they do everything in their power to keep it the way it is. Increased cap would be okay, but no cap would be wrong.
Heres the deal....2006 is capped, and 2007 is part of the existing deal, but they put in this uncapped year to motivate both sides to negotiate before the CBA expires....Upshaw has made 2 specific threats, both of which could ruin the momentum the league has built....1.He says that if the league has an uncapped year, the union would never agree to a cap again and 2.He has suggested that if theres an uncapped year, he would decertify the union, effectively making all contracts void and everyone a free agent next seasons.....in other words, the destruction of the league as we know it.....there is one thing we have going for us: They are all greedy jerks....you can look at the worth of the baseball franchises(the Royals were for sale for less than $100 million recently) and see that thier system devalues franchises....NFL owners arent going to go for that....they all understand whats at stake, they all know that the pie is huge, and a smaller piece of a giant pie is better than all of a tiny pie....I think it will get done, just because theres so much at stake for both sides....if it doesnt, you can congratulate Nascar, the new king of american spectator sports....only the NFL stands between them and the thrown....
if there is no Salary Cap, i might actually stop watching the NFL. itll be like the MLB where it is the same TEAM dominating.
But in a player's point of view, that means more money for them! IMO, I think an uncapped year is not a good thing to do. It's how the league can keep things balanced. Basically what everyone else said, about the whole MLB thing.

Players would become free agents after 6 seasons instead of 3. The 4th 5ht and 6th season teams would get to make qualifying offer. There would be 3 franchise/transition tags per team. top 8 teams would be limited in free agency.
