<div class="quote_poster">olskoolFunktitude Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">by "lock for the east" do you mean lock to win the eastern conference and go to the finals??? I think Pau would need to play a litttttle better than half as good as Mark Blount for that to happen. Even if he plays as good as he has for most of his career we could still lose to a handful of teams in the east.</div> I do mean win the conference and go to the finals, but I was being just a wee bit sarcastic, as I'm sure you've figured out. But Pau making a Pau-sized impact would be quite the addition to this team.
The Celtics have a lot of young talent to trade to the Grizzlies. I mean they should definitely get rid of Theo Ratliff. They could also offer Gerald Green, Wally, Delonte West, any of these players to bring in Gasol would definitely help Boston do good in their division.
Danny Ainge is pretty good using smoke screens, and I'm starting to wonder if this Gasol rumor is meant as a bluff to grab McHale's attention in Minnesota for the player he really wants ... KG. The East is wide open this season for a team to make a blockbuster move and gain instant access to the Finals. Acquiring KG and teaming him with Pierce would make the Celtics instant contenders. Gasol is an upgrade, but no one's clear on his health and the window of opportunity might only last for this current season.
WOW, I never thought for a second that the Celtics would go after KG. I mean the Lakers and Magic have also been rumored to try to acquire Garnett as well. Looks like he actually is the Big Ticket.
I would like to go on record as saying there isn't a chance in the world that KG goes to Boston, thank you.
