When I think about it, I would trade Odom+Cook for KG. As much as I love Odom, I think we would have a better shot at a title with KG in our lineup instead of Odom. The problem is, how long will it take for KG to learn the Tri? I would not package Odom+Bynum for KG though. Bynum will be a regular double double guy in a couple of years as long as he can stay healthy. He has way to much upside to let go at this point. I think Kareem and the Lakers invested too much to trade Bynum now. Odom+Cook would be a ALL GO for me personally if Minnosota offered KG.

in summer i would've traded them away but now i see they have come a long way. KG is still good but it would take alot of time for him to get used to the triangle offense. But seeing KG/Kobe together would be an awesome duo. Question is will Kobe be able to win a championship with Odom or KG???

i think that the lakers would be willing to trade odom, bynum and even a 2007 first round pick (deep draft) for lebron. but i dont see why the cavs would do it.
i wouldn't offer this trade for wade tho

    our lineup would be sick
    smush
    kobe
    lebron
    radman
    kwame

everone on this lineup is extremely athletic except for vlade (but he would be lighting it up from long range once his hand gets better)...it would be very fun to watch

While I do like Odom, I can admit that KG is better. The only issue is that he's on the downslope of his career, but even with that, he's still a top 5 or 7 player in the league. Odom still tantalizes with all his potential though, and if he continues to improve this year, he's going to be difficult to let go.

You really think the Lakers would go after this trade? ''Odom and Bynum for Stephen Marbury, Channing Frye +1st rounder ''

All your other trades you mentioned were crap as well, no offense or anything

Currently, there is noway the Lakers would trade Bynum period. Not unless other teams offer us a young player like Howard, Bosh, Lebron, Wade, or Melo. Bynum is our future, our hope, our everything after Kobe is gone. There is a reason Dr. Buss doesn't want to let Bynum goes for Artest.

As for LO, I don't think he is safe, especially if a player of KG's caliber is on the trading block. No matter how much LO has improve his game, he is just not the type of player that can handle the pressure, and playing big in key situation. However, I love LO for his unselfishness and his love for being a Laker. Though, if the Wolves offer us KG for a pack of LO, Cook, and Kwame Brown. I'm sorry I'm afraid I have to say "No thank". Not because of LO but because Kwame + LO. Kwame Brown has the body every teams want. Eventually someday, he will turn into a beast. We just have to wait and see.

Why would the Lakers trade Odom and Bynum, when there's a good chance KG opts out and signs for less money to become a Laker?

It isn't 100% guarenteed KG will opt out, and it isn't 100% guarenteed he will sign with the Lakers if he does opt out. Other teams like the Bulls and possibly the Magic all have room to sign him. I'm not saying that we should trade Odom and Bynum for KG (I hope we don't), but it isn't guarenteed KG will come to LA. Also, KG's year to opt out is 2008, right? If so, that means another 2 years of age added on to Kobe.

Are you kidding me? LO is playing alright but the guy can't play consistently and crumbles under pressure. Ultimately the Lakers want to win in the playoffs and KG will help you do that alot more than Odom. Cook is a scrub, not even a rotation player on most teams and Kwame is alright but shouldn't stop you from getting KG; The guy is going to be 25 in 4 months, what you see now is about what you're going to get sans minor development that comes with NBA experience.

Not that the Wolves would ever offer that nor accept that offer, but come on, some of you Laker fans have to look at your team from an outsiders' perspective, without so much emotional attachment to the current players. LO and Bynum isn't that much to give for KG and its a fairly good offer compared to what other teams can/would offer. Your team after would be pretty damn good with Kobe and KG and some good role players like Kwame, Vlad, Walton, Turiaf, Farmar (hes not far off from being a good PG). Instead you'd rather wait for Odom and Bynum to maybe get to a level where they can help to get to a championship while Kobe could even be beginning to decline right now for all we know (hes already been playing for 11 seasons plus tons of playoff games). Plus right now there's no clear-cut best team in the league like there has been in recent years, if the Lakers did acquire a KG to put alongside Kobe they'd be right there with the Mavs, Spurs, etc.

Buddy, you need to read again, I didn't say I wouldn't trade Odom for KG. But we talking about giving our WHOLE front court depth for a 31 years old KG here. So let's suppose we make that trade by the deadline Odom + Brown + Cook for KG, who do you suppose is going to be the backup C and a backup PF? Ronny right? [IMG] Or better yet, we need to bring back Slava Medvedenko [IMG] .

Also, Bynum is pretty much a lock right now considering there is no much upside in his development. Like I already mentioned, Bynum is our future. Sure we might be an instant contender with Kobe and KG, but where do we go from there after Kobe and KG retired or their game start to declining. What if we don't win any championship with Kobe and KG? It is always nice to have Bynum as our insurance.

Right now it is tough man...to be honest with ya, I would pull the trigger on anybody except Kobe and Bynum to get KG but I would have a 2nd thought tho because you never know, the lakers might acquire KG in 08 or maybe a Ron Artest to go along with KOBE, LO, Bynum, Kwame, and we can still compete for championship.

    PG: Farmar/Smush
    SG: Kobe/Evans
    SF: Artest/Walton
    PF: KG/Cook
    C: Bynum/Kwame

If that was the Lakers lineup in 2 years, it would be a really really good team.

Yea, except the only issueis that, no matter what you do, Ron Artest won't ever be a Laker. Our shot to get him last year is gone now. Beyond that, I'm more than happy we kept Odom. While he's not the defender Artest is, he's so much more versatile than Artest could ever dream of being. Also, if we had him and ended up extending him, there's no way we could afford to get the likes of KG or extending Brown. That just wouldn't happen. He'd demand way too much money, leaving us with very little cap flexibility.

After the loss last night you almost beg for a change to take place. However, I don't know how effective KG would be for us with the way our guards play. The Laker guards are not getting the ball into the paint dispite having two great options with Bynum and Odom down there. Both Kobe and Smush are looking for their shots and playing a lot of one on one basketball instead of setting up the Triangle.

While some might still want the trade, I'm still glad it never happened. I think Odom, despite his inconsistency, is still a better fit for this team than Artest. And though Odom is streaky, so is Artest. And not only is he streaky, his offensive game isn't nearly as complete as Odom's. The only thing Artest really trumps Odom at is the ability to defend. And if Odom was a smarter basketball player, he'd find ways to use his quickness and length to his advantage on the defensive end, much like Artest uses his size and strength. And I agree, we definitely need to work it to the paint more often. Odom is great at finishing in the paint and Bynum has become a viable option down there as well with the strides he's taken and improvement he's had this year. Beyond that, Kwame is a solid option as well. Right now, we need to get the triangle going more and stop playing one on one basketball. When we play within the offense, we don't get as many TOs, shoot a higher percentage, and just in general play better basketball. When we have people trying to play off the dribble and beat their man one one one is when we struggle, and that's what Kobe is trying to do too much of right now. He needs to go back and play within the offense and know when to pass and when to shoot.

Erm...I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Ron Artest playing for the Lakers in the future. We know he loves to play for a big market team (either New York or LA would be his ideal destination) and we know he doesn't want to end his career in Sac town. Other than that, Ron Artest is an unpredicatable player that you don't know what he's going to do. Also Ron Artest isn't going to worth more than Odom's contract. After his contract expires, he probably going to make around 10mil/season, somewhere around LO's contract. Despite us over the salary cap even with Brain Grant's contract off the book, Dr. Buss will spend that extra 10mil and as long as we are under the luxuxy tax limit, Dr. Buss will be okay. As for acquiring KG and Ron Artest, I don't think that would happen.

Also there is alot in Artest's game that is better than Odom. He brings more intensity and toughness to the Lakers that Odom cannot do. He also has a slightly better stand still mid-range jumper and absorb contact better than Odom. I see Artest can play that Pippen's role better than Odom just because of that defensive factor in his game. When you have Kobe, Artest, and Kwame, that 3 defensive players there that can lock up 3 positions on the court.

If someone offered Odom+Bynum for either:KG, LeBron, Howard, or Wade you better accept that trade. You would have to be the dumbest person in the world to reject those trades. Who cares about the big men depth?? You get anyone of those players along with Kobe..............TITLE CONTENDER!!!!!!!
