So today is the first day of my vacation - the first vacation in 2 1/2 years. Evidently I really need this vacation. My wife and took the time to get up in the morning for our 9:30 AM flight. We made great time, are here early, and are sitting at our gate (I am writing this from the airport). Funny thing is, the gate number does not match what the flight board says, and neigher does the departure time. Oh, what's that? There was no AM in the 9:30 AM flight? What is this PM at the end of 9:30? ....whoa....you are telling me that I am stuck in the airport for the next 14 hours? Well this should be fun.

Well, we made it, and we didn't have to wait 14 hours. Luckily we were able to get on an 11:30 flight on standby, so now I am writing you from the 9th floor of the Hotel Carlton in downton San Francisco. Here's to hoping for a great trip!
Spending 12 hours with my wife in a major international airport? I cant think of many things I'd rather do....when I started dating my wife, I actully took her on a date to the Orlando International Airport....this was before 9/11, and before the tight security....you could literally walk right up to the gate....OIA is more like a mall with runways than an airport though....

The trick with travelling is that no matter what gets thrown at you, enjoy it. If nothing else, you have got a great story to tell to people later on. Oh, and bringing up the Herschel Walker trade is just downright mean.

Guess what? IT GET'S WORSE!!! So we are coming back home tonight, taking the red eye which departs on February 24th. ...wait, what's that? Oh, right...the 24th was YESTERDAY! A 12:30 AM flight on the 24th means that you leave on the night of the 23rd! Oh well, we got an extra day in and are scheduled for tonight's redeye. I should pull that excuse every time.
