Jay Cutler throws out 23 reps of 225 at the combine....those are football player numbers....there were several O-Lineman that didnt get to 23 reps....hes starting to remind me of Farve a little bit, in attitude and arm strength....thats could be good, or that could be bad....hes an Uncle Rico type, betting you he could throw this football over a mountain....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>hes an Uncle Rico type, betting you he could throw this football over a mountain....</div> hahahaha yea thats pretty awesome shows his strength i think the combine is going to be great for him hes gonna move up in the draft
Cutler needs to be in the right situation in my opinion to suceed. If he goes to New York which I think would be a reach at #4 I don't think he'll play well there. Now if he goes somewhere to sit for a year then I think we've a got working project. Sitting behind Collins for a year in Oakland is a strong possiblity or sitting behind Warner for year in Arizona as well, I think those situatuions would do him some good. I don't think he's as NFL ready as Matt Leinart. With this said it appears the Jets love him and will either trade down a few spots too take him or just take him at #4.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>How come I haven't seen anything on Leinhart and Young in the combine yet?</div> That's b/c they chose not to workout until their individual pro days. The same goes for Reggie Bush, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Santonio Holmes, LenDale White & DeAngelo Williams. Not a surprise as most of the top prospects every year have done the same. The one surprise that didnt workout was Michael Robinson QB from Penn St. He's not considered a top prospect. In fact most scouts would like to see him switch to a different position. So for him to refuse to workout at the Combine is very disappointing.
I firmly believe that refusing to workout at the combine is a nagative thing....If I had the same grade on 2 prospects, one that worked out at the combine, and one that thought he was above it, I sure as hell wouldnt take the guy that refused....
Of the guys that did choose to workout this weekend I was impressed with some of the WRs. This is not a top heavy class, but I believe there are some mid-late round gems. As expected Chad Jackson stood out in all the drills & he ran the best 40 time of 4.32. Others that looked good in drills Avant, Stovall & Blackmon. Many of the WR prospects will be projected as P/K returners but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these guys make it as a 3rd WR. 1 guy in particular that I've been anxiously awaiting his arrival into the pro game is Skyler Green. He ran a 4.5 but I think his football speed is immeasurable. Steve Smith was labeled strictly a special teamer coming out of college & look where he is now. So don't ever count out the little guys. I dont see Cutler's ability to lift being of much significance in his value as a QB prospect. He looked good in the passing drills, but I wouldn't exactly say he wowed me. 1 guy that I had never heard of until now that impressed was Ingle Martin of Furman. He seemed to hit every WR in stride.
Yeah I believe Chad Jackson just leaped frog Santonio Holmes. I had no idea Holmes wasn't going too run at the combine and choosing not to do so hurt him in the long run because of Jackson's 4.32. Holme's will need a good showing on pro day now in my opinion to jump the boards.
Furman is my team, as most of you know, so I know a lot about Martin....he will get drafted....and he will play in the NFL....some team will draft him late, give him a shot to win the punting job(hes a better punting prospect than QB) and make him the 2nd QB if he wins that job(cowboys? I remember Parcells using Tupa as the #2 to save a roster spot)....then its a matter of development....he certainly has NFL talent....

I'm glad to see he got a good showing in. I think he could realistically be a steal in this draft and maybe a future starter in the NFL. Of course he's a project that'll take a few years to develop though.
Yeah I learned that he was the backup to Rex Grossman at Florida b4 transferring there. So he's gotta have some ability to be a former Gator QB.
Like some of the running backs had high numbers. Like i was really surpised that the Jerome Harrison who is like 5-9 had like 21 reps. But Jay Cutler is really amazing me. He has a cannon for a arm and i think he will be the next great gun slinger.
Michael Robinson and Santonio Holmes are idiots for not working out... Leinhart, Young, and Bush are smart for not working out those guys are the top three picks in this draft... they are the highest rated players the only thing the combine could do to them is hurt them... another WR i like coming out is Hagan from ASU
Micheal Robinson is a day 2 pick anyways. Derek Hagan had a horrible combine. He ran well but you ever hear the old saying couldn't catch a cold. I hope you get my point. He's a late round 2 pick right now.
Im not high on Derek Hagan. He hasnt proved that he can catch away from his body. He had some bad senior bowl practices, and i think his stock is dropping. Sure he had a lot of production in college but last year Stubblefield was like the all time recs leader in the NCAA and he was undrafted and later cut by panthers. The WRs i really like are Mike Hass, Demitrious Williams and Chad Jackson.
