<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bonzi Wells turned down a five-year, $38 million offer in the summer from Sacramento only to end up with a two-year, $4.4 million deal with Houston. The thinking was Wells would opt out of his contract next summer and recoup lost bucks while again being a free agent. Perhaps he'll have to rethink that. An overweight Wells has been a big bust, averaging 3 points while playing in only two games. He further buried himself by taking a flight that was too late to make it to Rockets practice the day after Thanksgiving. Don't expect Wells to get a holiday from coach Jeff Van Gundy's doghouse any time soon.</div>

Bonzi is having a Sprewellesque season.

He may of been slightly overwieght, but he should of never been put back on the injured list. He played in two preseason games, and then JVG pulled the plug on him. [IMG]

I'm really surprised Bonzi hasn't caught on with this team. He can score and rebound, and would give the Rockets some creative looks on offense because he's a strong post scorer, which would allow Yao to operate in the high post and direct traffic.

Maybe the Rockets should try shopping him around. Seattle is looking for another scorer and they are trying to unload Earl Watson.

    Bonzi for Watson?

No offense. But the Rockets would have to be slightly retarded to get Earl Watson for somebody like Bonzi. Earl Watson is a solid back up pg. But we need an athletic wing who can score. We have enough defensive players. We need more firepower. I'd say Stephen Jackson maybe

Stephen Jackson? Not another nut case. He might pull out whats left of JVG's hair. I really hope he keeps working to get in shape so he can finally play.

For someone who watches every Rockets game, you sure forget a lot.

Wells played in two regular season games. He spent the whole preseason "getting in shape", remember? Look how that turned out.

Also, 40 pounds overweight is not "slightly".

Man, we were all excited and all to see him in Houston, but his fat self his just home eating and missing practice. I don't know why he isn't even playing. He had 3 months to rest his injuries. We still don't have the boost from the bench we need, and I definetly thought Bonzi could provide that for us. By All star time, I want to be ready in shape playing like he did in the post season, if he can do that, no question that Rockets will be as good as Mavs/Spurs

Why would it be retarded? Bonzi Wells isn't contributing, what makes you think he's going to buy into JVG's system and turn it around? Bonzi has made a career of working his way into a coache's doghouse, and JVG's doghouse is always an extended stay.

Look at the longterm picture for the Rockets. In the postseason they could potentially play against Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Devin Harris, Leandro Barbosa, Mike Bibby, these are all explosive point guards Rafer Alston doesn't stand a chance against. Having Watson gives the Rockets a defensive specialist to slow down these guys, and Watson won't hurt you offensively, because he can also score.

    ^^ Agreed.

Bonzi right now= not doing anything for Rockets
Watson= a solid contributor with great defense who can stop good point guards.

It's increasingly looking likely that Bonzi won't play for the Rockets. Hopefully Kirk Snyder gets back in the flow in 3 months so we have that big SG/SF off the bench.

Watson is a great defensive player, but I'm worried about his meager offensive production. I know he played well last year, and I haven't seen him play this season. Will he snap out of the funk with a change in scenery? Does he do enough damage driving into the paint and creating plays to make up for his lackluster perimeter shooting?

Also, I think Spanoulis can potentially be a "defensive stopper" who can guard PGs and SGs. But Van Gundy probably won't put him ahead of Rafer or Luther in the rotation.

I don't know if 40 is completley accurate. But if that was the case, why would JVG even bother activating him just to throw him back on the shelf? That's idiotic logic. Now u guys are talking about getting Earl Waston[IMG] I guess the ANTI-SCORING movememt continues on justbball.

ANOTHER defensive minded player? You can not be serious. Not only that, he's undersized for a shooting guard. We ALREADY have Spanoulis who's a good defender, why in the HELL would we go and get another undersized defensive guard in Watson. We mine-as-well bring David Wesley back. What we REALLY need is a 3rd scoring option who can create and finish and who has size. If you watch the Rockets games, you'll notice that we have significant trouble scoring. There is no way a team with good shooters should be scoring only 80pts a game. The problem is when Yao or Tmac outta the game we have nothin but spot up shooters but no creators. That's where this team needs to improve.

Look I understand u want a team with all honor citizens. But we need some attitude on this team. We need somebody who's gonna bring some energy. Whether that be taking a hard foul, or gettin in ppl's faces. Right now the Rockets don't have a mean streak. I'd take Stephen Jackson with the heartbeat. Young, talented, athletic and quick feet. Who can do anything Earl Watson can do and MORE.

Rock4Life would you want Jalen Rose and Chris Webber for Battier and Hayes if the salaries matched up?
