I think it's start of a new era of dominating centers in this league starting with Yao and Dwight. Congrats to Yao for his first player of the month reward and keeping this up will guide the Rockets deep in the playoffs.
I thought Boozer would have won it for sure, given the start Utah's made and the fantastic stats he's put up. However, the Rockets have gotten off to a great start as well and with Yao's stats and his performances in big games, it's hard to sell him short.
Carlos Boozer has been playing outstanding, but I think Yao did well also. Averaging 26 and 10, thats badazz. GO YAO! and GO ROCKETS!

Yao draws more double teams I would think, his FG% is higher (not sure about true FG% or whatever, b/c Dirk shoots 3s), his rpg slightly higher, and his bpg is .7 bpg higher. Dirk gets 1.7 less TOpg and 1.3 more apg. I guess the double team factor and defense would be my main advantages for Yao. While slight apg advantage Dirk, and less TOs.

But Yao certainly has a case.

Interested in where Dwight Howard stands on that list, durvasa. In your opinion, do you think he deserved the POY in the East?

Dwight is ranked 19th in PER, at 23.2. But he's also the best player on the best team in the East (record-wise). So he's a good choice. Other nominees would be LeBron (of course), Billups, and Joe Johnson.
Ah thanks. Interesting to see Josh Howard and David Lee ranked so high. Talk about underrated... Btw, couldn't find Chuck Hayes on that list. Did that injury keep him under the minimum games played needed?
Durvasa look at it this way: Tim Duncan has Parker and ginobili providing major help for the spurs success Dirk Nowitzki has Terry, Howard, and Stackhouse Boozer is only legitamate person who can challenge Yao for player of Month Yao has put this team on his shoulders b/c tmac has struggled alot

Besides Boozer, the Jazz have Deron Williams, Okur, and Kirilenko. Utah is definitely not a one-man team.
