My cousin said that there was a rumour that would send Rip Hamilton to the Raptors for Mo-pete and a 2nd Round pick. He got it from his yahoo account newsletter on basketball news. I asked him for a link but he deleted it all ready. Anyways this is what he copied and pasted from the article and sent to me on MSN. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Reports from the Toronto Gazelle say that Bryan Colangelo of the Toronto Raptors has been on the phone with Detroit Pistons' general manager Joe Dumars, discussing a possible deal which would see both clubs surrendering two clutch guards. It is rumored that Toronto is willing to give up Morris Peterson (SG/SF) and a 2nd Round Pick for the 2005/2006 All-star, Rip Hamilton. There is no word on the officiality of the deal, but the news was apparently no surprise to many; it shows Colangelo's willingness to better this young Raptors basketball club. </div> I'll try to find a link A.S.A.P. What do you guys think about the trade? I like it because it gives us that second scoring option that the Raptors need, and Mo-Pete is expendable with all the depth we have.
I don't see how the salaries would match up, Rip is making 9, while MoPete is making 4.5. Also, I don't see what is in it for the Pistons. Giving up an all-star for a bench player and a second rounder. If Detroit loses Rip, where is the offense coming from?
lol, I love how it says "Toronto is willing to give up Morris Peterson (SG/SF) and a 2nd Round Pick for the 2005/2006 All-star, Rip Hamilton" as if they're the ones getting the worse of the deal. This deal never happens. Joe D isnt stupid.
My "friend" also said that there is a rumour the raptors are sending Chris Bosh and TJ Ford to the Pistons for Lindsey Hunter and Carlos Delfino OMG!!!!!!!!
if rip came to the raptors, colangelo is the best gm ever. and the raptors will be 1st in the atlantic division for sure which translates to home court advantage for the raptors.
The salaries don't have to match because the Raptors are under the salary cap. This deal doesn't make any sense for Detroit because they are still a top team in the East and haven't committed to rebuilding again. However, I do think Joe Dumars is ready to pull a trigger on a trade. He's been traveling with the team to scout.
<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Does the Toronto Gazelle even exist? I've never heard of such a paper.</div> Yeah that's what I was thinking. Also, why would a media report refer to Hamilton as Rip? You'd think they'd be professional and call him Richard Hamilton. Sounds like this was just a joke and you got bamboozled.
<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Does the Toronto Gazelle even exist? I've never heard of such a paper.</div> That's the first thing i thought when i saw that too. Maybe it was written by Marty York? ahaha. Hamilton has a similar game to Peterson but he does everything 10x better. I doubt we have anything that would entice Detroit into trading Hamilton.

Mo Pete better defensively at probably everything, can finish around the basket better, and has the better 3pter. Other than that Rip is smarter, better without the ball, better mid range game, although not as good as peterson can still shoot the 3 well, and is clutch. It's a downgrade but hes not 10x better
He's from Calgary so he wouldn't know. Plus everyone knows people in the West are illiterate (burn!).

Anyways, I really don't know about the credibility of it either. My cousin just copy and pasted me something on MSN, and it sounded legit. I asked him for a link and he said he got it from his Yahoo NBA Newsletter mail, and that he deleted it after reading it. Sorry guys, just got a little excited

Mo Pete is a good player but nothing more than a good guy to bring off the bench. On any very good team should not start. Rip has been an all-star on one of the top teams in the NBA, Mo Pete has been a good scorer on a bad team. Even comparing the two is an insult to Rip's game.
<div class="quote_poster">hustler Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'm sorry guys but I think it's obvious to say that, Rip>>>>>Mo.</div> but mo's cooler
It wouldn't make any sense from a Piston standpoint. Sure Mo's a better three point shooter, but Rip shoots a higher percentage from the field and is capable of carrying his team offensively, where as Mo can't really create for himself as well as Hamilton. If I was Toronto, I'd do this in a heartbeat.
