<div align="left"><div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There are times when those closest to the Orlando Magic have a tendency to cringe. Those are the times when Jameer Nelson, who has waited for his moment with barely contained emotion, veers a little too close to his predecessor. Those are the times when the young point guard, who takes his leadership role on the leading team in the Eastern Conference very seriously, starts looking for his shot in a head-strong manner reminiscent of Steve Francis. Any reminder of The Franchise, of course, draws a shudder out of Orlando?s general basketball population.

It?s hard to think of a more selfish player in franchise history. But in the case of Nelson, these compulsive moments can best be written off to youth. Ever since his remarkable run at St. Joseph?s, the 5-foot-10 point guard has been weaned to run an NBA team.

?I feel like I?m the leader of this team, and I should act like it,? he said. This from a guy who shares the floor with one of the NBA?s most respected young stars - center Dwight Howard, voted the Eastern Conference?s player of the month for November. But as Howard has soared this season, leading the league in rebounding with a stout 13.6 average, in addition to averaging 17.1 points on .576 shooting and a stunning three 20-point, 20-rebound performances, someone has been getting him the ball. You won?t find Nelson among the league leaders. His 3.9 assists average is tied with players such as the Celtics? Paul Pierce and Phoenix swingman Boris Diaw for 46th best in the league.

But he?s shooting particularly well for a point guard (52 percent, 37 percent from 3-point range) and with the necessary deference.

    Is this, indeed, Nelson?s team?

?Absolutely, it?s his team now,? Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. ?The main thing is that he?s a winner. ?He makes big shots,? he said. ?He?s got a great swagger about him, and he?s been doing a great job to back it up.? </div></div>

steve francis??? wow, what a comparison, it is hard to find a pass first point guard these days...jameer is excellent, i have nothing bad to say about him...his assist to turnover ratio is starting to pick up as well...all star down the line

I don't think they were comparing him to Francis. I think they were saying he's almost the exact opposite.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">“He makes big shots,” he said. “He’s got a great swagger about him, and he’s been doing a great job to back it up.”

Orlando folks need more than the swagger to be won over, of course. The Franchise had a swagger, too.

“The difference is that he’s not Steve Francis,” Rivers said. “He moves the ball.” </div>
