Hahahahahahahahahahaha. I cannot believe he tried to do that. What a buffoon! You don't do that crap in NBA games unless you're up 25. (Read: It was OK for Tracy to do it in that Raptors game that one time, even though, well, **** Tracy)

It's so great that he missed the dunk. The cherry on top is the fact that he was called for traveling.

CLEVELAND -- Nate Robinson, the reigning Slam Dunk champion, last night tried a contest-like dunk attempt on a fast break in the second quarter of the Knicks' 101-98 win over the Cavaliers. Robinson bounced the ball off the floor and leaped to catch it in the air and dunk it, but missed. He also was called for traveling. Isiah Thomas wasn't happy and, in the next timeout, let Robinson hear it. "I don't think we'll see that again," Thomas said.

The 5-9 Robinson was asked by a reporter what he was trying to do and the second-year guard deadpanned, "I was trying to dunk it. It's a dunk."

Teammate Quentin Richardson, seated next to Robinson's locker, then chimed in and said, "It would have been amazing."

But at the time it appeared on the surface to be a show of self-centeredness. Robinson insists his intentions were to fire up his team, which led 37-32 at the time of the play.

Robinson later made another careless play when he blocked LeBron James' layup attempt against the glass -- an automatic goaltending -- with 5:21 left in the game. It tied the score at 85.

"We'll make sure we get him better at those things without taking his game away because we need his game," Thomas said. "We need his enthusiasm and we need the energy that he brings to the floor. The mistakes that he makes, I'm confident as his coach that I'll correct those mistakes."

Robinson, who said he never tried a dunk like that in a college game, said he probably won't try the dunk again. But then he added, "Unless we're up by 20."

    Jump shots

Stephon Marbury temporarily regained his shooting touch with 11 points (5 of 7 shooting) in the first half. But he finished with three misses in the second half, including two layups, and had 13 points and five assists with four turnovers. He was also substituted in and out in the final minutes for rebounding . . . David Lee (10 points, 5 rebounds) snapped a string of three consecutive games with a double-double . . . Early in the fourth quarter, James took exception to a hard foul by rookie Renaldo Balkman and the two came face-to-face.

I cracked up when I saw that video and showed all of my friends. Steve Francis did this in a game two seasons ago against the Pistons but he actually made the dunk. I remember Rip and Sheed freaking out and yelling at the refs to call traveling. Nate Robinson seems pretty selfish and I hope this taught him a lesson.
