<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Expect club VP Pat Williams -- the Magic's first GM whose Pied Piper efforts helped Orlando land a franchise -- to be honored after Jeff Turner in the franchise's "Commitment to the Past" series. Horace Grant is also in line, as is Darrell Armstrong, if Armstrong ever retires.

But here's the shocker: The Magic plan to honor Shaquille O'Neal after Shaq hangs 'em up. That's really letting by-gones be by-gones, considering Shaq set back the franchise a decade after bolting in '96.</div>

I don't really see anything wrong with it, he always talks good about us and has said countless times that he wants to be a part owner of the Magic.

we offered him more money..he DID screw us over..after going to the finals he decides to play for the team he always dreamed of playing for and tries to get magic johnson back on the court with him...if he stayed we prolly would of gotten at least one if not a handful of championships

LA Lakers paid him more money. There were no bird rights back then. I believe they offered him 121 million and we offered him 110 million(or something like that)

The fact that Shaq is now old and more than a bit stiff probably lessens the sting of what happened, especially since the Magic have the best young big man in the east.

Not with the new CBA. It seems like there is a limit on how much you can pay the guys.

Yeah the Lakers outbid for Shaq. Keep in mind there was no salary cap back then either.

mj was a high paid player..not sure of the actual figures but i know he made all his money off nike and other endorsments..u cant really compare contracts to players that came in the league almost 7-8 years apart just a different era.. thats like saying how much did marino get compared to manning.. i mean there is a reason why marino does used cars company commercials

I'm glad Orlando is finally recognizing its players. I also want to see Dennis Scott get recognized. Already Skiles and Anderson did. Hopefully, Penny Hardaway might get a nod.

Since he's a Raptors fan, I'm assuming he means Chris Bosh and the Bosh/Howard debate is always a fun one.
