<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Two team sources said Tuesday the Sonics have roughly 3 ? weeks to prove to management and new owner Clay Bennett that they are a legitimate playoff contender or the brass will seriously consider wholesale changes that may include a coaching change as well as a series of trades, perhaps involving forward Rashard Lewis. "Maybe they will look in a different direction," Lewis said after leading Seattle to a 102-87 victory over Atlanta at KeyArena. "It really could happen at any time. We've been kind of up and down, but I feel like we're still right there. We're playing close to .500 basketball, but you never know what they are thinking. "They can tell you one thing ? to don't worry about nothing ? and tomorrow you hear about somebody being traded. I've seen it over and over. Nobody is safe. Myself, I'm not safe. So I just try to keep it as business as possible." Coach Bob Hill knows management expects the team to be hovering around .500 by the end of the month, however, before the game he said, "Deciding whether we're a playoff team or not in the first two months is silly. That's not enough time."</div> Link I would like to think that Hill would just worry about winning games instead of how long it takes to evaluate whether or not his team is capable of making it in the playoffs. What a joke. I can imagine how much Clay Bennett wants to get rid of everyone in the old regime. I'm glad that the players are handling this situation professionally b/c if they were acting like Bob Hill then all hell would have broken out by now. Glad that we were able to play well despite the fact that Ray was out of the line up. Maybe those pending changes will include him.
^ Well said, their entire problem is their coach, they have just as much talent if not more talent than they did 2 seasons ago when they almost pushed the Spurs to the Brink in the second round of the playoffs but for some reason this year their absolute garbage. Only noticable difference between then and now? Coach. Bob Hill is a joke always talking to the media about his players and whatever the hell he wants. I haven't heard him mention anything related to basketball (i.e pick & roll, defense, hustle) in like a month.
