<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When Billy Hunter of the NBA Players Association filed suit against the introduction of a new game ball, one of his main points was the complaints of Jason Kidd. The Nets' guard said the ball's microfiber material was giving him nightly paper cuts on his fingers. That complaint, shared by Dirk Nowitzki, was apparently a key determinant in getting Commissioner David Stern to reconsider and possibly dump the new ball for the old leather variety.</div>

Yeah, Ray Allen was complaining about that too and I think Luke Ridnour did as well. Do you guys think Stern will change the ball during the season?

How do their fingers get cut? Not sure how that works. Pretty interesting.

The ball spins very fast...when you catch it, you have to stop the spinning. However, when you try to catch the new ball, it spins into your hands, but when you apply friction with you fingers, some of your skin comes off.....this my understanding of the problem.

My thoughts was that when the ball is getting sticky from absorbing all the sweat, the texture of the ball will cut through your skin when you shoot.

Some sort of synthetic rubber...definitely not leather.
