Lol all teams in Atlantic Division have a losing record. Toronto is leading the Atlantic Divison with a record of 12-15. Those are the types of things that pisses me off. Rockets are working there asses off (16-10), and yet they are still 3rd in the Southwest Division. Man I wish Rockets could be in Atlantic Division somehow, we'd be first the whole season and not having to worry about someone winning the division. We'd win it every single year, but NO, we work our ass off in Southwest Divison and have to work hard for 3rd place, when we could've been in Atlantic and be first. Thats bs man. Atlantic Division is trash. You can have a losing record and still be first and possibly get a home court advantage in the playoffs, while in West they work hard. BS!

^^ Homecourt advantage is determined by # of wins, so if the Atlantic division leader has a terrible record and the team they play has a better record (although a lower seed) the team with the better record will get homecourt advantage.

I thought the homecourt was determined like this:

The 3 division leaders automatically get homecourt advantage and the 4th team with the next best record will get the homecourt advantage. Didn't they change it?

You're thinking of playoff seeding (which determines the matchups). Homecourt advantage is still determined by record.

Yeah you're right. I was thinking about the seeding. So when it comes to seedings, the team that gets the number 1 seed in playoffs has to be a division leader, and out of the division leader it has to have the best record out of all the division leaders right? For the 2nd and 3rd spot, you basically have to be a division leader right? And 4th spot in the playoff seeding doesnt have to be a division leader, but the team w/ the best record that isn't a division leader, am i right?

So homecourt advantage is determine by record and playoff seeding by division leaders?

No. The top 4 seeds go to the three division leaders and the team with the best record out of the rest of the teams. But the seeding order for those four teams is determined by record.

Here's something interesting I just noticed today. Before 1/1/06, Adam Morrison's numbers:

    <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><br/>mpg ppg FG% rpg apg tpg<br/>Home32.010.830.2% 2.9 2.1 2.3<br/>Road34.317.042.7% 3.3 2.1 1.3<br/></div>

Usually, I'd expect a rookie to play better at home than on the road. For Morrison, it's been dramaticalyl the opposite. He had a pretty good game at home today, however. 18 points on 8/17 shooting.

Dick Bevetta's history with officiating games in Sacramento...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bavetta is not free from controversy, however.[2] During the 2002 Western Conference Finals, the Sacramento Kings were called for an incredible 27 fouls in the fourth quarter alone.[3]</div> Source

Then again last night the Kings had 14 or 15 FTs in the 4th Quarter before the Lakers got to shoot 1. Hmmm....

Dick Bavetta is 67 running around on a basketball court. I'll give him props for that.

Bavetta told the reporter the secret to his longevity was "wearing five pairs of socks," which he claims helped keep his feet in good shape.

    Invest in socks MrJ.

All those fouls except for maybe one that were called on the lakers bigmen for fouling bibby really were fouls. You cant just move your body into an offensive player while hes making his move.
However, the lakers being the crowned predetermined champions in 02 does make you go "hmmmmmm...". I say predetermined because the refs were seemingly doing everything in there power to make sure the lakers would be champions.

Those officials must have been the same ones who worked the Pistons v. Lakers Finals, and last year's Wade FT's vs. Mavs Finals.

[IMG] That's still crazy though. Still has to be properly conditioned and everything. Let's see if he hits the 70 pleateu.

So wait in the 2002 Western Conference Finals, did the Kings get 27 fouls called on them, or on the other team (Lakers I think).

If it was on the Kings, it would only make sense if they were doing a massive Hack a Shaq.

The Lakers have the 5th seed in the NBA above Houston, Denver, and Goldenstate.
