Combined with Mihm's salary and McKie's expiring contract, the Lakers can trade close to $10Million for another player. Are we $2.1Million closer to KG?
Eh, the trade exception will most likely turn out to be a waste. When was the last time Mitch made a move
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Eh, the trade exception will most likely turn out to be a waste. When was the last time Mitch made a move</div> Honestly man, I think Mitch was a genius this past off season. Sure, as a fan we could be like Oh I would have done this, done that, blahblabhla. But, when the decision is actually on you, it's a lot harder. Over the off-season, he aquired Mo Evans(FOR NOTHING), Jordan Farmar(a steal), and Vladimir Radmanovic (should be coming around very soon). And we got rid of Devean George, which a lot of Laker fans were not too fond of. I never thought I would say this but he's done a brilliant job, and I trust he'll come around and make the right choice hopefully when it comes to landing Kevin Garnett. This Laker team is just ONE piece away from a championship, and some might argue as we develop as the season goes along, we might make it pretty deep. When you have the best player in the league, it might just be enough to go all the way and we may not even need that LAST piece after all. Only time will tell.....
You know, the Magic were denied one for Grant Hill a few years back. What's up with Chris Mihm, and how did he qualify for an injury exception when Grant Hill didn't?

Denver's also expected to receive $5.2M for KMart being out. The only thing I can think of, is the Owners fought for more leniancy during the latest CBA. Brian, I don't think the Lakers would have applied for the injury exception, unless they had an inside track on a deal. If you put the pieces together, the Lakers seemed to have their ducks in a row to get a deal down before the trading deadline. 1. They kept McKie despite knowing he wouldn't contribute anything this year with the depth are guard. 2. Applying for the injury exception with Mihm. I know Mitch hasn't been productive the past with expiring contracts, but maybe the deals being offered didn't make sense.
