First, the bad news: Guard Jason Richardson is being shut down indefinitely after an MRI exam taken earlier this week revealed a bone bruise on the inside of his left knee.

The good news: It has nothing to do with the offseason surgery Richardson had on the same knee.

That means the Warriors will be without last year's leading scorer for the near future, but they can breathe easier knowing that Richardson's recent knee flare-up shouldn't require additional surgery.

Tuesday's MRI also showed a cyst in the back of his left knee, which the Warriors said is also not in the same area of his surgery. Richardson isn't sure how his latest injuries occurred, but started feeling discomfort while he was warming up before the Indiana game last week.

"Something didn't feel right," he said.

While there is no timetable for his return, Richardson will be limited to strength and conditioning exercises before he sees the doctor again Tuesday.

"No worse, no best thing. Just a time thing," Richardson said.

So close, yet so far: Forward Zarko Cabarkapa says he should be available for Saturday's game against the Hornets after missing the entire season so far with a strained lower back.

"I think so," Cabarkapa said Thursday. "We'll see how I feel tomorrow after practice."

The same can't be said for forward Ike Diogu, who hasn't practiced in more than a month since sustaining his first-degree ankle sprain Nov. 7. Diogu says he's still not ready to scrimmage, and probably needs a few sessions under his belt before rejoining Nelson's rotation - wherever that may be.

"I just got to prove myself all over in practice again and go from there," Diogu said. "That's just life. I'm not going to complain and sit around crying about it. I'm just going to go out and get it done."

Briefly: After consecutive blowout losses on the road, Warriors coach Don Nelson held the first of two days he's referring to as a "mini-camp to brush up on all the things we've stopped doing and forgotten about." ... Guard Anthony Roberson, who made his first career start against the Rockets, dislocated his right ring finger in practice. X-rays were negative and he is listed as questionable for the Hornets game.</div>

Hmm, coincedence that he had a cyst on the same knee that was operated on? Yeah...

Ah if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot first, the injuries will... "such is life" (to emulate Diogu's frustration.)

It was sabotage by some French guy looking for the starting two guard position! [IMG]
