Why would Seattle give up their future (Petro is a good prospect and the 1st rounder is in a great draft) for a one-year rental of Magloire?

they already have enough project centers with Swift and Saer.Magloire could be more than a 1 year rental if he plays well, which I think he would in Seattle's system.

You're going to have to elaborate much more than that. For a team that is going through an ownership change, I fail to see the logic of getting rid of good prospects who are still in their rookie contracts. They may have a lot of them, but until one really emerges, there's no reason to ship them out. Magloire, on the other hand, would make sense for a contending team that needs a boost. Seattle isn't and they'd be sacrificing the future for a player they probably wouldn't resign after this season. If he played well, it'd be even more unlikely that he stays, as his pricetage would only increase.

The reason this trade is interesting is because all of the center prospects they have, none are really good on the offensive end,Swift was starting to show some but this time next year where is the PT going to come from.also we need to think about Nick Collison as well as Wilcox who can be equation into the occasion.
The Sonics desperately need to show their at least playoff capable before the ownership deal is done and Magloire is a low risk high payoff gamble.

Say that im totally off base, where is the minutes going to go next season, only 2 centers can get legitmate time at the 5

    Nick Collison
    Robert Swift
    Johan Petro
    Mouhammed Saer

That means Petro and Saer are going to get lost in the mix, pretty much usless even if their on rookie contracts if their not going to be getting PT
