Knicks Chasing Iverson, But Admit Little Chance
    9th December, 2006 - 12:50 pm
    New York Daily News -
Isiah Thomas always has admired Allen Iverson and has said the Sixer star's playing style and personality mirror his own.

But in all likelihood, Philadelphia would want expiring contracts plus draft picks in return for their best and most marketable talent.

The Sixers are likely to try to include Chris Webber in a deal with Iverson as a way to reduce their payroll and remake their roster. Philadelphia would have little interest in Marbury and Steve Francis. And even if the Knicks could put together a package that would include Channing Frye, Jamal Crawford and Quentin Richardson, the Sixers would not be getting an All-Star in return and would only be adding to their payroll.

Also, it can't help the Knicks that former coach Larry Brown is close to Sixers GM Billy King and could be advising him on player moves.

"Of course, the Knicks are trying to get Allen," said a source close to the situation. "But I don't think they have much of a chance

I'm loving the fact that Isiah's overly aggressive approach to free agency is forcing him to miss out on really good oppurtunities like this.

Getting AI is not gonna help them. they already have Marbury and Francis and look where they are now!

The Knicks biggest mistake was firing Larry brown. I'm sure if he were still coaching, they would be doing much better.

They would definitely not. the situation wouldve been a lot worse than it is now. no team is going to succeed with a coach calling players out and switching the lineup every day. It was pathetic what LB did here. At least with Isiah he has a gameplan

Curry would probably be stinking it up too.

Marbury goes to NY= He starts sucking
Francis goes to NY= He starts suckning
Iverson, if he goes to NY= He will suck

    Whats gonna happen next?
Francis switching to small forward, Iverson to shooting guard, and Marbury to point guard?

Marbury had two good seasons and one average season in NY before he started "sucking". Francis doesn't suck, he just can't put up the same numbers as he does when he's not the first option and doesn't handle the ball as much. Your logic is flawed. Besides, if Iverson get traded to NY (highly unlikely), I'm sure Marbury and/or Francis would be involved, so we won't have three ball-dominant guards.

Either way, having 2 ball dominant guard has turned out bad for the Knicks, anyways.

The lack of defense and cohesion as been the main reason for the Knicks' struggles - not because of their two ball-dominant guards.
