I've been waiting a long time to see this movie. It is inspired by graphic novelist Frank Millers "300". He is responsible for the great graphic novel series "Sin City" as well as the movie of the same title. check it out http://300themovie.warnerbros.com/
Is this the movie based on the battle of Thermopylae? I remember seeing a trailer for this when I watched the Departed.
Somewhat off-topic but did anyone else hate Sin City? I literally couldn't pay attention to the movie at all, the acting was terrible for the most part (probably didn't help that the characters were so cliche and stereotypical) and the story was uninteresting. Only thing that stood out about the movie was the visual style, if it looked like any other movie I don't think it would be nearly as hyped up as it was.

But Mickey Rourke was great, and if you read the graphic novel, you would appreciate how accurate the movie was and how close it stayed to the feeling of the book. I agree Madsen was bad, but everyone else turned in an acceptable performance.
I bought the book/graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. I also watched the trailer for the 300 movie on Live Marketplace. If people loved Sin City, people are going to go nuts for 300. I myself loved Sin City, and Mickey Rourke kicked all kinds of behind as Marv, and the stellar cast of stars is something that is unheard of in movies. 300 is going to be a serious blockbuster.

I loved Sin City myself. And the first time I seen the 300 previews back in October I felt like grabbing a spear and stabbing a wolf. God those previews got me amped.
