<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We're obviously going to see Elvis appear next, along with Big Foot. J.J. Redick was spotted on a basketball floor --- and actually playing. The Magic rookie --- a lottery pick, we might add --- has been a rumor all season. With Keyon Dooling out against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, Brian Hill called on Redick. Albeit late, with the Pacers having the game virtually locked up, but he called on him. Redick buried a three-pointer and went 1-of-2 from the line for four points, playing a little over nine minutes of the final period. I get more e-mail on J.J.'s whereabouts than any Magic player. Not surprising. J.J. was one of the most decorated college basketball players ever. But he has hardly got a sniff this season, pushed way back in the line behind a bevy of wing players and his own preseason injuries. Then again, he has been practicing at full blast for a while, and Hill obviously doesn't think he's better than Grant Hill, Dooling or Keith Bogans. That said, don't give up on Redick yet. It does make me wonder whether the Magic at some point will deal Dooling or Bogans or even Redick for a big, given their glut at the position. As far as the loss at Indy, it's not surprising. If the game was in Orlando, the Magic would have won. The Pacers were on a similar trip West, but had the home folks giving them a much-needed shot of adrenalin. Plus, it's not fair they have former Magic guard/Energizer Bunny Darrell Armstrong keeping them charged.</div> Source Thoughts?
Trading a guard for a big is always tough. I imagine Redick probably has the highest trade value of the three. David Lee's PT might be out the door now that Jared Jeffries and Frye are returning. He was pissed about losing his minutes without any chance to compete for them. Their salaries are close enough Redick for Lee?
<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Redick for Lee?</div> I think I would.. I'd prefer Dooling get dealt, but that might not be enough. Considering how each player is playing right now... David Lee is averaging 11/9 in 27mpg, he's showing what he can do this season. JJ Redick on the other hand, has played 2 games and is averaging 6.5mpg. I'm just not sure what Redick is made of. I don't want to trade him, and then see him averaging 15ppg in NY.
I think it'd be wise for the Magic to hold onto Redick and deal Dooling and/or Bogans instead. I don't think that JJ will be a star, but a guy who has as much potential and production coming out of college is a guy who shouldn't be dealt before he gets a chance to show what he can do. With Dooling and/or Smith, I'd imagine that the Magic could get a guy like Melvin Ely or Marc Jackson . Maybe they could even swing a deal for Jamaal Magloire if they threw in a draft pick. But I don't think that giving up on Redick this soon would be a good idea. Obviously the other young guys they've got have exceeded expectations, which has lessened Redick's importance. That doesn't mean that they should overlook his potential, however. I don't know too many teams in the league that couldn't use a guy at the end of their bench that can shoot it like he can.
You know I'd be down for a David Lee for JJ Redick deal. I love what Lee brings to the table with his heart and hustle. Just imagine, if we did this trade, NO MORE PAT GARRITY GETTING PT! That's the selling point of this trade for me.

Dude, David Lee almost got a triple double the other night. Dude is a double-double machine He had 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. We could use another hustle player to spark the bench. Bo doesn't seem to get much playing time.
I wouldn't want to give up on Redick this early. I'm afraid if we trade him, he will go to New York and light it up and become a great player. With that said, I would trade Bogans for David Lee because I'm am not a big fan of Keith's game. I just think we should hold onto Redick a little longer because it's hard to judge a guy who has only appeared in two games this season.
<div class="quote_poster">CLos Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Diener for Mutombo?</div> I remember that rumor earlier this season. I wonder what ever happened with that?

Getting Lee would be a huge coup for Orlando, but I don't think it's worth mortgaging Redick's future in exchange for him. The Magic should start by offering Dooling and Fran Vazquez for Lee; Zeke is still in charge there, he's the only person in the league crazy enough to do that trade, and the Magic may as well take a stab at it before he gets fired But seriously, I think they should make an overture to the Knicks regarding Lee. A high-post passer of his ilk would be a devestating combo with Dwight. Jameer, Lee and Dwight would be a fantastic foundation for the future. I doubt that Ariza would be a part of this deal, because Zeke already had him and traded him. So that negates one of Orlando's better trading pieces. I also doubt that the Knicks have much interest in Tony Battie, who is a good player for Orlando to keep anyways. He really helps Dwight with his dirty work down low, and he's got a big 3 year deal that New York wants no part of. I could see a package similar to this getting it done: Orlando trades Carlos Arroyo (an even larger expiring contract than Dooling), Keith Bogans (after his trade restriction expires) and their 2nd round pick this year (NY is desperate for picks) for David Lee. I think the Knicks would like to get an unselfish young point in Diener, and Dooling is a relatively solid backup 1, plus his contract is up. Lee goes to Orlando, Arroyo is a true 1 behind Nelson, and Redick absorbs Dooling's minutes as an outside shooter.

How many Magic games have you seen this season?
I just noticed what was wrong there. I wrote that I would trade Arroyo from the Magic to the Knicks, but I meant that they should trade Dooling. That was a simple mix-up in player names then, my computer froze, and it stuck that way
Yeah, I was just remembered of that rumor. I wonder if they would still be interested. Mutombo would be a good addition to this team.

Honestly I think if we got David Lee, he would be our starting PF because he produces more than Battie does.
