If you can't take graphic footage I suggest not looking at this video.

    http://www.meat.org/index-1.asp?c=MYMblogaddr112106

Nice to know where most meat comes from isn't it? I'm not writing to tell you that eating meat is wrong because I still do, but think about where you buy your food sometime and be careful of their products. Remember that mad cow disease comes from the dairy cows because they're NOT supposed to be eaten. They stuff them into lots and feed them other cows, which focres them into cannibalism.

This video is biased I know, really meant to scare people into becomming veggitarians. However, the information and footage is real and people should be aware of who they purchase produce from and try to find where it is coming from. For instance you won't find that in most European countries. Sure you don't have to care for the animals, but think about being in their position because that is seriously disgusting.

Discuss your view of animal torture and slaughter.

    It's like the chicken holocuast...

I have no problem with how these animals are treated. They're raised for food, so us humans can enjoy/live off of them. I hunt deer, I have no problems with killing animals if you're going to eat it.

It's animal mistreatment of Penguins, Dogs, Lions, and Tigers that I care about.

    How old is this video?

What's sad are the assholes getting off on abusing the animals. Generally I try to buy high quality meats from higher end markets, but I guess you never know.

I agree they'r raised to be killed, but there's more humane ways to go about it. Throwing them with full force into the bins is twisted.

As a hunter, don't you have a code of conduct, you take pride in your kill and you want a clean kill don't you? You don't hunt to go out and obliterate the deer with an uzi or automatic weapon.

After watching the complete video, I regret posting my original post.

You're right, these assholes do get off by abusing the animals. The treatment of the pigs was very inhumane, very disgusting, and very wrong. It's assholes like those that give all meaters, hunters, and cattle raisers a bad name.

It's not necessary to brand a cow repeatedly, throw chickens full force, slam pigs against concrete floors to kill them. It's disgusting and to be honest, I'd hate to see how they treat their wives, if they're married.

As a hunter, I believe that whatever you kill is a gift from God. You aim for the quickest kill so the deer (this is what I usually hunt, deer and bird) doesn't suffer for too long. If they don't die within 2 minutes of the shot, usually you have to put another one into them out of respect.

I always aim for the heart/lung area which is where they teach you to aim in hunter safety classes. If you get a direct hit, the animal will die the quickest way.

If I offended anyone with my original post, I'm sorry.

I don't understand how you believe you have an opinion of the subject before even watching the video. Cutting off a cattle's testicles while it is just standing there and then branding it repeatadly is inhumane and disgusting. The animal still feels the pain and all of these animals that catch diseases much of which is brought over into what you eat. You can kill off many by cooking the meat, but not all of it and that is why so many people that purchase poor to mid grade meats get sick because those meats come from factories and slaughter houses like that.

It doesn't bother me to kill the cow, chicken, pig, whatever. It is the way they kill them or torture them, or leave them to rot with disease with no way of living their lives of purpose that bothers me. As a naturalist I believe we all hunt and eat meat for a damn good reason, but when we do things like this it becomes out of control and unacceptable. There's no way to stop it though, i'm just letting you all know to stray clear of cheap meats and most produces because they get this type of low grade diseased crap. Even if some of it is fine, do you really want to keep supporting it? Buy your meat from people that know how to treat and kill these animals the correct way.

The only thing about this video that is a lie is about the cattle cut throat. In truth in order to kill a cow the right way you have to cut the throat cleanly and in a certain way. They basically just drop dead. I've seen it before at a naturalist farm that prepares their meat cattle for food distrubution. It is the humane way.

The video I believe is only a few years old, Shape.

    That was hard to watch.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can consider them animals anymore, after what they go through. They're denied all the basic requirements of living things: reproductive organs, a proper habitat, free will, etc. Essentially, this method of processing makes them organic machines. The video was obviously biased, but it definitely strengthened my own vegetarianism. The part about milk was real troubling, though.

Man... that was just sick and disgusting. I wonder how those farmers would feel if they were to recieve the same treatment... what kind of heartless, evil person could treat another living being like that, cutting of testicles without any painkillers, or letting the animals live like that?

Like many third world countries have complained, we consume too much in the world we live in here in the west, and what that video showed is how far and low the measures has gone to meet these demands.

I'm glad that at least here in Sweden, the situation is improving through laws, regulations and an increased awareness of the population. Although we are nowhere near what I would concider fair treatment of the animals, doing things like letting them walk freely outdoors and not feed them though unnatural methods is at least a step in the right direction.

I have no problem with most animals being killed for food, but like most people have said, the things that are portrayed in that video are terrible and inhumane. Something definitely needs to be done and those facilities need to be supervised. Cutting off testicles and horns and then branding? Drug induced weight gain? Smashing crippled pigs into the flood to kill them? Disgusting.

But.... Being Argentinian, I eat a lot of meat. Vegetarianism is a no go for me. But something should be done.

Holy fuc*in hell, I literally got chills up my spine watching that video. I knew animals were probably treated badly, but I had no idea that thier killing would be so merciless...While I understand that killing them requires different processes, I would think that the health board would be smarter than to just let severely injured cows and pigs be led to the slaughter house and in the end, fed to humans everywhere. Even worse, how do we not speak out against killing them IN THESE MANNERS? I know we have to eat meat, but I'm quite confident that there's better ways to go about it then this. I don't know if every single farmer or every single production house (or whatever they're called) treats thier animals in such a way (someone please tell me that this doesn't happen to every single animal), but that was unbelieveable.

I think the worst part was the fact that these friggin animals are ALIVE. I odn't give a fu*k what anyone says, these are living beings and they feel things just as we do.

Also, I noticed they did this to the pigs and the cows, but when they hung them upside down in soltitude (or two's), did they slit their throat and let them bleed to death or did they cut them open somewhere and let them bleed to death? I couldn't see properly because my moniter is too dark.

I think the part that really struck me was the "burning off" of the Hen's beaks....Jesus Christ.

Also, the cutting of pig's ears and teeth and tails..I don't get why that is necessary? What does cutting thier tails and ears have to do with anything? Someone explain to me.

As far as animals go, I can't believe people hunt for extinct animals. That is digusting. Basically, I dont really see the need to hunt animals that aren't NECESSARY to hunt. I've seen people hunting lions and tigers and elephants for fun. Why?

I know this isn't the best time to bring up Borat, but in one of his clips where he goes hunting, the man tells him that his best kill was of an extinct animal. What is the fun in that? Yeah, it's a "rare" kill, but you're wiping off an already extinct populace...

Man, that video is sickening. Cutting of the testicles is just plain wrong. Pigs shot in the head and burned alive for hair removal, good thing I don't consume pork or that would be yet another thing that would cross my mind every time I ate. I believe animals such as cows are put on the earth as food for us, but man... I'm sure there are better ways of slaughtering and treatment of animals than that.

Vegetarianism? Hell No. Most of my diet is consuming Meat products, I love Chicken and Beef. If I was to protest against those companies to support better treatment for the animals and healthy environment, I would. Don't get me wrong, but animals such as cows are made to be consumed. I'm all for better treatment of animals, but giving up eating meat totally? Ain't gonna happen.

"If you are consuming milk, you are supporting the Veal Industry" - The guy on the video says.

Im sorry, but EVERYONE drinks milk, we need milk for Calcium. How are we suppose to protest against the Veal Industry for their inhumane ways? Do we stop drinking milk, now?

I'm happy that as a Muslim, we get our meat from a Halal Meat store.
Halal = meats slaughtered in a way that makes it permissible for a Muslim to eat, the animal must be treated in a good way, not the way in the video.

Thats one little reason why I don't eat meat at school or fast food places. I try not to. The only thing I have gotten from fast food restaurants like McDonalds is Chicken, now I'm not gonna get that anymore.

Halal Meat stores have animals that are not tortured and live in healthy environments. So, if this video disturbs you, find a Muslim friend and ask him/her where they get their meat from. Yes, it is a little more pricier, but you watched the video.

I buy my meats and produce from Trader Joe's and smaller business. Trader Joe's are against buying and selling meats that are produced through torture like what you see in that video.

As I've mentioned before it is ok to continue eating meat, just be aware of where you purchase it. Try to stray away from those meats not only for the sake of your own health, but if sales drop those places will lose money and that means no more business.

A little bit at a time, my friends.

    * EDIT * I also buy some produce from Halal markets.

Trader Joe's owns, they don't have a good selection of meats, but I do most of my grocery shopping from there.
