<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Oscar Robertson will almost certainly remain the only player ever to finish a season averaging a triple-double, but Jason Kidd is actually making a run at it. After he passed Wilt Chamberlain and set the record with his 79th career triple-double, the point guard stood at 13.3 points per game, 9.6 assists and 8.7 rebounds. While that may sound like he's close, Kidd acknowledged he is still a long way off. "I'm a ways away,'' said Kidd, who had 12 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in Monday's win over Memphis at the Meadowlands. "[The average] went up, but I still need 30 rebounds one night to get that far up." Kidd has been excellent all season, and the fact that he remains off the pace is striking to him. "That just shows how difficult it is,'' Kidd said after practice yesterday. The mere fact that there is a conversation about his prospects show what type of player Kidd is and, to head coach Lawrence Frank, how much he has changed. "His game has evolved,'' said Frank, who first saw Kidd as a high school player when the coach was on Bob Knight's staff at Indiana. "He was impressive. He was dunking." The high-flying aspect of Kidd's game has now all but disappeared, but he has more than made up for it. "It's crazy what he does,'' Frank said. "His will is unbelievable. That's what separates him from everyone else." And while the season-long triple-double might remain out of Kidd's reach, Vince Carter has another goal for his teammate. "We need Jason to finish with 100 career triple-doubles [this year],'' Carter said.</div> Source
It's possible for him to average a triple double, but get double digits in rebounding will be the hardest for him. It's hard to believe a 6'4 point guard is averaging 8.4, but 10.0 would amazing. I have faith in Kidd. Go for it.
That will be cool. Kidd could do it. He is a triple double monster and he has been playing great. With all this talk about Nash no one is noticing what Kidd is doing.

<div class="quote_poster">authentiq Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">that's because Nash's team is winning.</div> So is Kidd's, that is if we make a move.
<div class="quote_poster">authentiq Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">that's because Nash's team is winning.</div> Take a look at Nash's team. If Kidd was in D'antoni's system, he would be even more beastly. The fact that he averages nearly 10 apg sharing touches with another big playmaker in Carter and has to play on offense with the "worthless wonder" in Collins is amazing. Not to mention the fact that Kidd also actually plays defense. If we can pick up a serviceable pf or Boone/Moore start to pan out, we will be among the elite.

<div class="quote_poster">authentiq Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">that's because Nash's team is winning.</div>And Kidd's would too if his team was as loaded with talent as that was. Put Nash on the Nets and lets see him succeed the way he has. The Nets run a completely different offense and don't have nearly the talent of Phoenix, and beyond that, Nash'd have to play defense. I don't think that'd work too well for him.
Nash needs to handle the ball a lot to be effective. Like everyone is saying, he would be a completely different player in the Nets' system. Whereas if Jason Kidd was in the Suns' system, Kidd would flourish more. Jason Kidd can adapt to any situation he's in. And he has proven this time and time again.
Ive said this before but its a fact, Nash just got lucky and ended up in a great system no one considered him anything when he was in Dallas. Put chris Paul on Phoenix i bet he puts up better numbers in every category, but it doesnt matter Nash is overhyped hes a typical point guard. The only thing special about him is hes one of the rare true point guards around.
why cant they focus on winning? personally if i were a coach i would be pissed if my players were only thinking of helping someone achieve an individual goal

Nash might be slightly overrated but he is far from typical.
the typical point guard is rare today, I guess i should make that clear. Most point guards are more of a Dwade type of player instead of a Jason Kidd which makes him rare. Hes had two good seasons lets throw him in the hall of fame!

I agree, most point guards today play like shooting guards instead of pure point guards like a Jason Kidd. Btw, Wade is a SG.
Yea, but his rookie season he played point I believe, also was a point at marquette. I could just use jason terry as a point instead.

Also during the playoffs, Kidd averaged a triple double against Boston throughout the whole series. It was a few seasons back.
