There was a similar case a few years ago involving a female. She was in the back seat of a car sleeping and when the cops walked to the car to investigate she woke up, startled them, and they unloaded several rounds into her. I'm not sure if that was the incident in NY or not. This article has some interesting statistics. Philly officers have the most kills this year with 19. In 1973 NY officers shot and killed 54 people. Wow. When I read this thread title, the first thing, or person, I thought of was Amadou Diallo. I did a whole project on the Diallo shooting and killing and this is really comparable from what I read so far.

He also posted it in the politics forum. IMO I think race played some part into it. If it would've been a white man I doubt the Police would've unloaded 50 shots. Sadly, that type of stuff happens in our country when it really shouldn't.
