<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Those familiar whispers are starting up again. It?s mid-December, just about the time the annual ?Steve Nash for MVP? campaign picks up the much-needed momentum that allows it to move from far-fetched to fathomable. The Suns go back East for their first extended road trip, roll through the big media markets and put on an offensive show that leaves coaches, writers and talking heads with jaws agape. And every coach stands outside a losing dressing room, wishing aloud for a Nash of his very own for Christmas. ?Everything they do is set up by one guy, Steve Nash,? Boston coach Doc Rivers said. ?He?s just amazing to watch. For our young guards, it?s probably not bad just to sit there and watch (film) of that game two or three times, just to see how he sets things up. His vision is amazing.? But to win this thing again ? to join Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (twice) and Larry Bird as the only players in NBA history to win three straight MVP honors ? Nash would really have to do something extraordinary, right? He?d have to come up with something above and beyond his past two seasons, rising to an even higher level. Don?t look now, but Nash is on his way. While the Suns have reeled off 12 straight wins ? going from three games under .500 to one of the best records in the league ? Nash has affirmed his superstar status in every possible way. Phoenix again is the top-scoring team in the league ? that would be six years in a row that a Nash-led team has owned that category ? and has his fingerprints everywhere. Statistically, he?s averaged 21 points and 12.3 assists during the streak. He?s shooting 54.3 percent from the field, 51.9 percent on 3-pointers and recorded 10 double-doubles. Playing 37 minutes a game ? the Suns just played five games in seven nights on the road ? Nash battled through a nagging sinus cold but never coughed up an opportunity. ?Everyone sees the Suns back among the top teams, and the media starts rolling and Steve starts to get credit for what he always does,? Suns coach Mike D?Antoni said. ?With Amar? (Stoudemire) back inside and Boris (Diaw) playing well, Steve has more options and more opportunities for big games. But then, you still have to make the big plays.?</div> Source
I hope the league doesn't waste yet another MVP award by giving it to Nash again this year. But he's the front runner so far.

The league has already wasted 2 awards the past couple of years when shaq and lebron should've won it. I hope Kobe, Lebron or Carmelo step up and win this year's award.

Nash has gotten his team pretty damned far (especially when starting from stuck in the mud) and since the MVP award is about being the most valuable player. Just putting up points or being a media darling doesn't mean jack if you don't take your team anywhere. If Nash can get the Suns a championship I think finally all the haters will grow up and stop worshipping at the altars of the shoe contract gods.
Nash is definitely going to the hall of fame. He's put on a pedestal right now, imagine what it will be like when he's walking around at 65

He's only gonna make a team like the Phoenix Suns better. There are players like Kobe and Lebron who would make any team in the league better and deserve the MVP award more than him. Heck, if Nash hadn't signed with the Suns, he wouldn't have even won those 2 MVPs and we wouldn't even be having this discussion now.

If you honestly feel Nash would not make any team better then you are lying to not only yourself but every member of this forum. Would the Heat not be better with Nash??? The Timberwolves??? Lakers??? Until your arguments cannot be deciphered as comedy or truth you will not be taken seriously. How many playoff series has Kobe won without Shaq (Enter Kobe supporters)??? I make this comparison because Nash's team was lottery bound prior to his arrival and now they are title contenders. Kobe's team has not gotten out of the first round. How much better has he made them??? It's hard to discount the fact that Nash signed with the Suns because he did. Nash has certainly dominated the PG position and his teams have, in a way, changed the outlook of the league. Maybe Nash would not have won two MVPs without signing with Phoenix. Maybe he would not have won any. Maybe he would have won more had he been in an offense like the current Suns' offense his entire career. It is hard to say because it did not happen. Would Kobe have won titles without Shaq??? Would Pippen be revered without Jordan??? It is difficult to make presumptions without seeing the other side of things because anything could truly happen. Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of seeing the other side. Maybe the other side has Nash out of the league. Maybe it has him winning two NBA championships as a member of the Mavericks. The fact remains that Nash, though a debatable topic, has won two MVP trophies. For the record I still don?t see how the Mavs paid $70 million for Dampier but would not pay $60 million for the two-time MVP. I thank you Mark Cuban!!!

I don't see how Nash could win it again considering his supporting cast is just insane. Stoudamire, Matrix, Barbosa, Diaw, Bell. Want to know why this team is so good, because they have good talent. Period. They have Matrix who is one of the most complete fowards in the game. Stoudamire who is making a GOOD comeback. Bell who is having a good yar, Barbosa having a break out year and Diaw is finally back into playing shape. Look at the record with Amare playing limited minutes, look at the record with him being a major factor in the game. It's no conicidence. When Amare came around and got back to 80%, the Suns started winning.
Nash could have the best year ever for a PG and they still won't vote for him again. The NBA doesn't want him to win it three years in a row. I personaly don't think anyone does. Nash may deserve it but it won't happen. I wish it would but we don't always get what we want and I think two in a row was enough and lets face it. He got lucky last year so he would need all the luck in the world to win it this year.

Bell, Matrix and Barbosa all feed off of Nash, as does Amare. Marion is an amazing talent but he cannot create for himself, he needs someone to set him up for easy baskets. As for the record with Amare playing limited minutes there is more to that. The entire suns team had a little jetlag from the Italy summer camp, which turned out to be more of a vacation. It took a while for them to get back into running shape. If you want a real stat look at the +/- when Nash is on the floor versus when he is not.

I cannot believe people are denying Nash's skills even after two straight MVPs.

Nash= da bomb. Leading your team to 14 straight wins while playin 37 a night and averaging 23 and 12 is just amazing.
