The team saw Frank's self-deprecating wit as laugh out loud funny. But will it work. The team is now just where it was last year when it began its big turnaround. Still, even if things don't work out, Frank has job security.</div> Source
Yea, I don't think the Nets should even consider firing Frank, he has done well with the Nets in the past, no need to change.
Here is the humor he used. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lawrence Frank entered the Nets’ locker room before a recent game walking in reverse and wearing his suit backward. He then stripped to his underwear, put the suit back on correctly and turned to face the team. “Basically, the message was, it’s time to turn things around,” Frank, the Nets’ coach, said after practice Thursday. By the time he got to that message, however, the players were aching with laughter. “We all fell out, the whole team,” the swingman Antoine Wright said as he chuckled. “He’s always coming in with these silly, terrible speeches that don’t get anybody riled up. But that one was one of the best. That one was funny.” Wright said: “It was like a sigh of relief. It’s O.K. to laugh.” </div> Source Priceless!
I have no problem with the humor that coach Lawrence brings in the locker room. My problems is what happens outside. The Nets are 9-14. It's not a laughing matter. He may have been able to make 10 game runs in the past, but I just don't like the habit of the Nets falling way behind before making a move. Right now, I really think Frank Lawrence is done. Laugh all they want. But at the end of the season, I don't think a losing record will make the owners laugh with them. And most importantly, I don't think the people of New Jersey will be too happy. Personally, I don't think I can wait another season to see what else Lawrence can do. He has done what he can. I think he has brought the Nets where he can. He did a great job when he took over Scott. But I think it's time to move on. With the situation right now, I'd rather see Kidd go somewhere where he can win. He deservers a ring. I would have loved it to see him get it with the Nets. But I don't think it's possible anymore. Kidd has given the Nets organization more than a 110%. I don't feel that he's getting the same from them. I'm not a coach and I really can't say what should be done. What I say or feel is only from a perspective of someone who knows a little something about the game. A game that I have followed for many years now. But when I see a team that is blessed with talented players such as Kidd, Carter and Jefferson, and not win? I think a lot of you would agree with me that there is something seriously wrong here. I still hope the Nets can still turn things around before it's too late. Although, I just honestly think that time has gone and past.
