Okay I took the greatest dynasties over the past 21 years and selected the best team from each dyansty.....here are your choices to choose from 1985 Lakers 1986 Celtics 1989 Pistons 1992 Bulls 1995 Rockets 1996 Bulls 2001 Lakers 2003 Spurs Okay let me start off by saying that these are ALL great teams, and this shouldn't be a no brainer for anyone. All of these squads have hall of fame players, and some the best players to play the game PERIOD. The reason why there's 2 teams for the Lakers and Bulls is because they are seperate dynasties with significant differences (especially the Lakers.) Note do not pick the 96 Bulls just because they won 72 games (although that's a great feat)....vote for one and explain why.
Most of the people on here, including me, are probably too young to do this justice. Since I've been watching the NBA (97), the 01 Lakers have been by far the most dominating and fearsome team
I tried adding a poll but for some reason it wouldn't let me. The 2001 Lakers were a great team though, my only knock on them and the spurs of 2003 is that I feel like they didn't have to face as tough as competition as some of the earlier teams. EDIT if possible can the mods add a poll with this thread? (with the teams I have listed)
Like phunDamentalz said, I am too young to judge on some of the older teams. The only ones I have memories of are the 01 Lakers and 03 Spurs (bad memory), and I would take the 01 Lakers any time of day. As for the best dynasty? I guess it would have to be the 96 Bulls considering how they basically just dominated all competition, but like I said, I'm too young to really recall all that happened. I have only seen bits and pieces from highlight videos. With that being said, my pick would be the 01 Lakers only because I haven't seen enough from the other dynasties.
to be honest (although I don't agree) the '01 selection isn't that bad imo....you had a dominating big man in Shaq, Kobe went insane that post season (especially in the Spurs series), and a good supporting cast.
Well, I just think that not enough people have seen the earlier dynasties to really comment on them. Like I said, the only dynasties that I have been a part of are the 01 Lakers and 03 Spurs.
<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">am I getting old?</div> I believe so. Maybe you should grow your hair out instead of having the Van-Gundy inspired baldness, it might make you look younger.
86 Celtics...96 Bulls..or the 95 Rockets...I think Hakeem played the best ball out of the 3 main stars on those teams(Bird,MJ)..and although the Rockets are probably the least talented team out of the whole bunch I really liked the team.
No love for the 2003-2004 Pistons? Underdogs going into the finals, and proved that no matter how many stars your team might have, teamwork will always prevail. Not to mention the same team made the finals the following season, and put together a franchise best 64 wins last season.
The 2001 Laker team was amazing, but 1996 Chicago teams would have given them a run for their money. 72 win season hard to argue against that.
Well I didn't put the '04 Pistons there because they didn't win multiple titles....I'd honestly think the '01 Lakers might have beaten the '96 Bulls....who's guarding Shaq in his prime????......I think the Lakers supporting cast was better also. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">86 Celtics...96 Bulls..or the 95 Rockets...I think Hakeem played the best ball out of the 3 main stars on those teams(Bird,MJ)..and although the Rockets are probably the least talented team out of the whole bunch I really liked the team.</div> Nice to see Hakeem get some props, he absolutely tore it up that post-season....I still haven't made my decision yet...keep em coming.
I'd take '96 Bulls or '95 Rockets. Rockets because of Hakeem and his dominant season. And Bulls .. its obvious.
I was very surprised that nobody mentioned about the Showtime Lakers in the 80s. They were, in my opinion, the best dynasty ever. You have three Hall of Farmers, Magic, Kareem, James and a bunch of great role players like Kurt Rambis, AC Green, Michael Cooper, and others. A couple years ago, they asked all the experts and hall of farmars, who would they think was the best dynasty. I think they all debated and agreed that Showtime Lakers was the best, runner up was the Celtic. You just can't argue with the legend.
^^^they'd probably be my first choice (I'm still not deciding yet though)...the only teams that could really match them depth wise were the Pistons (who beat them) and the Celtics
