I was just watching a video NBA.com put together of Kobes 53 points he got against the Rockets the other night, and It finally hit me, Kobe Bryant is ridiculous. I just cant fathom the stuff this guy can do, he just pulls up right in the defenders face and knocks down jumpshots at will, he hits impossible fade aways like its nothing, he just dominates defenses not matter how big or good they are, he is just incredible.

For some reason I've always tried to not like Kobe, but today that changes, I'm a born again Kobe fan. This guy is just sick.

You know what sickens me? That McGrady has that same talent but no where near the heart and passion Kobe does. Kobe unstopable.

Kobe got his points on 17 of 38, i know, 53 is still good, he made it on just over 50 % shooting

Dude.. youre wrong he had less than 50% shooting BUT he had 10 rebs and 8 assists, made 5 of 8 3pointers and made 14 of 16 FT thats what the best part of it is... he had an all around game

Glad that you was amazed by Kobe. Ever since Kobe entered the league, I knew he was something very special because of his passion, his killer, his swagger, his motiviation, his work ethic, his amazing skill. You can see all those when he was 19 years old. The guy has the arsenal to be great, it's just a matter of when.

Also its not about how many shot Kobe took in that Rockets' game, at the end of the day, Kobe held the Lakers together and pushed for an amazing W after everyone at staple, including those that watched the game, already giving up on us.

Kobe Bryant is pretty much amazing. He hits shots that most people can't even fathom. And if you didn't realize it, but most of those points he put up the other night was a top 5 defender in the league in Shane Battier. That's what makes it most amazing. And, not to mention, he did it in comeback style. If it wasn't for his huge game, the Lakers get blown out.

He is a speical player.

I'm not a fan of his "flying a plane celebrations" though. Shows his arrogance. Which I hate. You have to respect what he does on the floor though.

Forget his stats I'm just amazed at how much he has grown in terms of being a team player and getting the best out of his team-mates. His leadership has been like no other season he has ever had. Thats what stands out to me. What he did last season scoring the ball alot didn't impress me too much. Team basketball and leadership does.

To be honest, prior to the back injury Mcgrady was arguably just as good if not better than Kobe in the minds of many people. The injuries are what slowed him down.

Not so at all... you need to understand the history of the "flying plane" celebration. Its a popular soccer celebration done after scoring a goal. Remember Kobe spent many years in Italy and is a soccer fan.

I'm well aware It is done alot in Soccer, I managed to watch plenty of games while in europe. A certain Mr Drogba does It for Chelsea. That kind of celebration is more suited for Soccer. In basketball It makes him seem arrogant.

This is the true greatness that is Kobe. The argument has always been: "_____ is better than Kobe". Players have come and gone in the argument only to replaced by the next up and coming superstar. And yet one players name remains constant in the argument... Kobe. It was Kobe vs KG. Kobe vs Duncan. Kobe vs AI. Kobe vs T-Mac. Now its Kobe vs. Lebron and Wade.

Ok. Just seems like a normal celebration to me.

Sorry I can't agree, defensively Kobe has been far better than T-macs pre back injury or not. Also Kobe has always been able to get to the line and has better shooting percentages through out his career. The most important thing to me is that T-Mac is soft, Kobe has taken on Shaq, Phill Jackson the freaking legal system and has come out better!! T-Mac cryes on tv about "I carried a team and it's taken it's toll". Or "I may be 27 but have the body of a 40 year old". And the best one of all "I'm gonna retire after my contract is over".

Defensively there is no question who's the better player. ITS ALL KOBE.

Kobe was first team 4 times and 2nd team twice. Tracy can't even boast one all-defense team selection. I think offensively, they are about the same. Skillset wise they are both capable of creating their own shots and scoring from anywhere at will. I still would choose Kobe over Tracy if both were healthy though. I think Kobe just have more fire in him. This is my personal opinion of course.

I think Kobe would have had more scoring titles if he didnt play with Shaq, but I'd rather see the rings than scoring titles anyday so Im not complaining.

I don't want to turn this into KObe vs. TMac but i personall believe TMac has more natural talent than Kobe.

Imagine if TMac had the passion and heart (and back) Kobe does..

Thats the thing though. Natural talent can only take you so far in the NBA... There are so many talented players, but very few can past their physical gifts and take it to that elite level of play.

Im sticking to my guns here.

Defensively Kobe>Tmac
Offensively Kobe = Tmac
Passion Kobe>Tmac

Kobe is arguably the best player on the court. Every offseason he works to improve his game. This season he has really taken on the role of a father-figure and leader of the Lakers. You see it every game. He is always encouraging his team to keep pushing themselves even when the situation seems bleak. I think thats the biggest reason why we are 16-7 this year. Kobe is not only the deadliest player on the court. He has become that FLOOR GENERAL and LEADER that the Lakers have been hoping he would become.

His comments off the court does not affect the player he is when he is on the court. One key variable that was constant in all three of the quotes you posted up is that they all came post back injury. Mcgrady before the back injury was as good as the league had, especially in his Orlando days. It was a shame they were never able to have Hill and Mcgrady healthy at the same time. Mcgrady can get to the line, at least he could prior to the back injury, however if he attacks the basket nowadays he liable to be out the next two weeks. Its a shame watching him now, he is a shell of his former self. When Mcgrady was in Orlando he and Kobe were even in my opinion as far as talent goes, then in his first year with the Rockets Mcgrady committed himself and improved on the defensive end and for a short time had stolen a little of Kobe's thunder since Kobe was going through injuries and his team was struggling, but then Mcgrady hurt his back and Kobe went for 81....

Tmac > Kobe

*dream runs out of thread*

nah, but Kobe was always better than Tmac imo, before McGrady was injured his skill set was just as good if not better than Kobes, but Kobe comes up big when his team needs him to and he has the rings...I'm not ready to give Tmac the "soft" label, because a back injury would slow ANYONE down, and I still remember the Mavs series a couple of years back when he put the Rockets on his shoulders and locked down Dirk, and that was anything but soft.
