I was just scanning through the latest rumors, many of which include notes about the Nuggets. That got me to thinking, 'will the suspensions resulting from the brawl cripple Denver's chances of trading for AI'? But then there's this to consider: will the upcoming suspension of Melo, which is certain to be at least a dozen games, hasten the Nuggets to trade for AI, needing a viable scorer to keep pace in the West with their fast-paced style? What do you guys think? Does the brawl and its fallout impact potential AI deals? If so, in what way? I'm interested to hear what you guys think on this.
I was thinking the same thing. It will make Denver want AI much more now that Melo will be gone for a while.
The Nuggets will push for the trade of Iverson. Losing anthony wont put the nuggets totally out of the playoffs but they would probably get the 8 spot. With no home court advantage the nuggets would lose a series versus the suns or spurs assuming one of those teams would be in the #1 spot.
Good thought Schaddy. I definetly think this will effect the trade. Since Melo will be gone for a while, Nuggets might be in need for a player that will help them win. And Iverson might be The Answer.
I think this event definitely has a chance to act as a catalyst for a trade for Allen Iverson. Melo provides a huge chunk of scoring for the Nuggets, without him they won't win many games.
I'm thinking this may effect the nuggets because they will want a scorer but won't trading to get Iverson effect the number of players on the roster because I'm sure they will loose two or three to pick up Iverson. So will the nuggets be looking to sign some more players to fill up the roster in addition to this?
The Nuggets shouldn't be doing trades just to cover for suspensions, especially not one as big as Iverson. I hope they do it because it will ruin them eventually, but if they're smart they'll just hold tight until Carmelo gets back.
I was thinking the same thing yesterday. But then, like JW, I realized that hurrying up a deal this big just because of suspensions is foolish and I doubt their GM would do that. On the other hand, if some of the players that they were offering the Sixers are suspended for a long enough time, I could see them losing some of their bargaining position.
It only has an effect If the guys rumoured to be dealt get suspended for a high number of games. Due to the Nuggets starters being mainly the ones involved I don't think It will have much of an effect. Najera is the only one who is rumoured to be moved that got ejected.

The main guys involved were starters, and they weren't rumored to be getting rid of any of them for AI anyway so it's a non-issue. I don't think the Nuggets will make a move this huge in haste. Nothing is gonna change, they're still trying to unload some salary in order to make room for AI's. Mainly Nene, but it doesn't seem very likely that a team is willing to take that on. Damn, where's Billy King when you need him? I don't think the brawl has any negative effect on the trade at all. What will impact it is Nene's play, if he can show that his knees aren't an issue then teams would be more willing to trade for him, which would expedite the trade and get AI in Denver sooner rather than later.

However, with that said I still believe it will not have any affect on the trade talks, as it is not the players that are coming to Philly that have Philadelphia talking to Denver, but the two first round picks they have in next years draft.

I've been hearing about Joe Smith, Najera, a first round pick and Jamal Magloire(if Denver can convince Portland to take Nene). Everything I've read says Denver intends on keeping JR.

However, what is going to make or break the deal is the two first round picks and the contracts the 76ers get in return.

Something this brawl touched on was the relationship George Karl and Larry Brown share. There is bad blood with George Karl and Isiah Thomas, because of the way Larry Brown was treated as the Knicks coach. They were speculating George Karl was running up the score against NY to send a message to Isiah. It's the reason Karl had four starters in the game when his team was up by 19 and the Knicks had given up already. With Larry Brown consulting Philly on the Iverson deal, I could see him and George Karl working hard to get a trade done. Acquiring Iverson now could keep Denver a float in the playoff chase. They are probably going to wait to see how many games Melo is going to be suspended for and then evaluate their options.
I dont get one thing. It would be appreciated if someone took time to explain it. Whats with the keeping 4 starters in thing? Is it that Karl kept his 4 starters in even though they were winning by a lot so they could win even bigger and that could send a message to Isiah Thomas or what?

I think it's hilarious, just absolutely priceless, that Zeke is acting butthurt about them running up the score. Hey, if he would've built a better team over the past 4 years, maybe they wouldn't be getting their ass handed to them on their home court every other day. Like I've said before, I'm convinced that Isiah Thomas is truly, seriously, and medically crazy. The guy has a screw or two loose. There's always drama with him and the Knicks, and he's always blaming someone else for everything or hating on someone out of the blue. He's lost it, plain and simple. Did you hear his laugh at the postgame press conference? Anyways, if there is (probably so) a beef between him and Karl/Brown, it's his own fault. He brough in Larry Brown, he brought in the players that are totally unable to get their **** together, and he put 'em together. Add to that the fact that he's rubbed just about everyone possible the wrong way in the past year or so, and I'm surprised more people aren't taking jabs like running up the score at him. Zeke, I feel zero sympathy for you. It's time to fade away now, because we're all more than sick of hearing the drama that always seems to follow you and the garbage you spew when you open your mouth.
Yeah I was watching TV and they showed the brawl on TV. They said that Isiah Thomas was talking to Melo and I think he told Melo, "No need to run up the score" meaning Isiah was telling Melo to not score. So I guess he was getting pissed that Nuggets were scoring and keeping their starters in even though they were winning by 19. This is Isiah's fault. And like Schaddy said, if he had built a good team, he wouldn't get his ass kicked this bad.
