After actually calming down and thinking about the trade, I guess it wasn't so bad on our part after all. Although I do think we should have gotten a lot more, the expiring contracts will help us in the long run. So will the 2 1st rounders we received from Denver. I'm just hoping that by draft day, we will be able to trade away our 2 1sts for a higher pick, maybe a top 15. Anyways, yes, after analyzing the trade, I do not think it was as bad as I first thought it was. But still, I'm not happy. I felt that when the Denver rumors were circulating, I had no doubt that we would be getting the 2 1sts, expiring contracts, and JR Smith in the return package. I guess not.

<div class="quote_poster">C.K. Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Honestly, I like the deal. We get Andre Miller, who's one of the better point guards when it comes to distributing the ball, along with two draft picks in possibly the deepest class in history. What would JR Smith do on a team loaded with wing players (Iguodala, Carney, Green, Korver, Williams)? Joe Smith, although is past his prime, is a better fit to this team. I'm definitely looking forward to June with our three draft picks.</div>
True, but other than perhaps Iggy, Smith would be the most talented player on the entire roster. He will definitely be the best scorer (something Philly is going to need with AI's departure) and is only 21. The 76ers could easily trade some of their excess wing men, especially the ones which get little burn (Carney, Williams). Doesn't matter which ones they get rid of, but with the exception of Iguodala, everyone on the 76ers roster is expendable.

The draft picks definitely help, but the 76ers could have gotten more for Iverson.

Edit: NVM, I see they have Dallas' pick which should be in the 27-30 range. Maybe they could package their picks and get Oden or at least Durrant.</div>

Er.. Not to burst your bubble here but there is NO WAY that anyone will give up Oden unless you're trading a rising star or superstar

Not bursting my bubble at all - I'm not a 76ers fan and you're probably right which is why I said Durrant afterwards.

I dont mind this trade much. Although, I would have loved to get Foye, Green, Jefferson, or some young player. This trade leaves us with a true pure point guard, an expiring contract, and three first round picks. We will rebuild quickly.

Just a question, do we have a 2nd rounder this draft? If so, we should land a top notch player with our lottery pick (hopefully Oden), and we should hopefully land a couple of quality players with the picks coming from Denver. Then, hopefully Billy King can work his magic and find another gem in the 2nd round (if we have a 2nd this season). If we can find another Kyle Korver or Willie Green in the 2nd, it would make this trade look a lot better

That being said, sure we could have got Randy Foye and Shaun Livingston but we would have had to take on a ton of garbage players with high salaries as well as possibly giving up a draft pick or two. This deal was necessary. JR Smith has been a head case ever since he has came into the league and I'm not sure if Billy King and Mo Cheeks want to deal with him as their jobs are in question.

This opens the door for a lot of players to step it up including Willie Green, who always seems to do good with Iverson out of the lineup.

Philly owns their 2007 second round draft pick.

Not unless those two picks which will likely end up 20-26 range end up being great players.

I like this trade for Philly. The '07 draft class is gonna to be one of best ones in a while with all of the big men talent in there and they'll have Denver's 2 picks which will probably range in the 20's, and Joe Smith's contract is expiring next year.

the bottom line is chemistry is a big thing and if Andre Miller flourishes in Philly this will go down as a great trade for PHiladelphia. If he become even a 2nd-rate Steve Nash type player that would be great
