<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement in principle with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire Allen Iverson, according to NBA front-office sources.

The trade, pending league approval, some two weeks after Iverson demanded a trade in Philly, would send Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks to the Sixers for Iverson and perhaps another minimum-salaried player or two. It was expected to be completed later Tuesday barring any snags.

The Sixers had been hoping to take back only expiring contracts in any Iverson deal, unless they were receiving a top-flight young player like Minnesota's Randy Foye or Shaun Livingston of the Los Angeles Clippers.

But with Philly and Denver struggling to find a third team to join in to make the deal more financially enticing for the Sixers, they decided to end an auction that began in earnest when Iverson's demand to be traded was confirmed by Sixers chairman Ed Snider on Dec. 8.

This deal will bring Philly a former league assist leader in Miller, Smith's expiring salary of nearly $7 million and those two first-round picks in June -- projected to be in the 20s -- to go with their own lottery pick. Miller is averaging 13 points and 9.1 assists per game -- third-best in the NBA -- while Smith, an 11-year veteran, has played little this season, averaging only 13.5 minutes and 5.1 points per game.</div>

Good trade for Denver. Even tough AI is 31, they still got a very good deal. They didn't really give up their main players, and that's good. Miller is a great player, but no one minds trading him for Iverson.

    Good job Denver.

If this is true, maximum praise to everyone involved, particularly the Nuggets front office. Best wishes to the 76ers; we will take good care of A.I..

Good deal for Nuggets. Nuggets will be a strong force in the playoffs. As soon as Melo is back. They are going to be killer.

Why does dude always add pictures to his posts? lol

Anyway I'm excited. But it'll be interesting to see how AI works out with Melo. George Karl need to let him know that its Carmelo's team.

    Well well well.
They got what they needed because Carmelo and Smith is out but i'm interested to see how Melo will now work with A.I. when he gets back.

Melo's young and is a scorer, wants to score. A.I. can pass lights out but he himself is a high scoring threat. Will they succumb to each other? Dribble it down to 20 pts. each? It's something Coach Karl will have to deal with.

Brilliant trade on Denver's part. They upgraded their backcourt, and added the consistent offensive weapon the team has been searching for since Melo was drafted.

It is time for Iverson to become a real point guard. There is no other choice. He needs to understand that he has to play like a veteran leader if he wants to win a ring. Carmelo is the logical first option. Iverson should be happy with 20ppg and 10apg.

Wamp Wamp what it do...Iverson in Denver great deal, i can't help but think that the Sixers didn't get something close to iverson's value in return. And they didn't even give up Nene. If only K-Mart were healthy can you imagine the line up! Still that's a nasty line up and if Denver is pulling off victories without there suspended stars think what they can do with them plus AI, but the key question that will come up is can they work together Coach Karl will have to find a way so they do.

    Denver Nuggets 06-07 Champions???

no way, Iverson is a totally different PG from Miller that will be an adjustment.
Then Melo and Smith's suspensions will hurt a lot.
Plus they really ain't stopping anybody.

I really hope that Iverson fits in the team and that Iverson and Melo get along well playing together. I wish them good luck!

This'll be interesting for defenses to handle. I can only think of a handful of teams that would be able to contain both Iverson and Melo on a given night (my ROCKETS being one [IMG]). Thankfully, Iverson isn't so young anymore, and we play with only one basketball on the court. Iverson vs. Karl will be interesting as well, good deal for Denver -- ups the competition in the West. The ASG will definitely be cool this year. T-Mac (though I hope he sits it out), Kobe, and Iverson all in the back court, on the same team, playing at the same time. And then Steve Nash running the whole show. That would be one incredible 5 on the floor. That'll definitely be exciting.

What's great is that T-Mac might get beat out by Iverson for votes, and then the coaches might not select him at all -- he could get to have a long weekend completely off to rest his back.

Not to digress, good trade by the Nugs. Sixers maybe got robbed, but they could not have traded him anywhere in the East, and just about everyone else fell out of the trade.
