<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fair or not, Monta Ellis is becoming emblematic of the Warriors' fortunes this season. One minute, he's posterizing Leandro Barbosa with a vicious dunk. The next minute, he's dribbling the ball off his foot for a turnover.

Ellis can be as breathtaking as he is frustrating, just like the Warriors. And that was before he morphed into a visual metaphor Tuesday, limping around practice with his left foot in a protective boot after aggravating a foot sprain against New Jersey.

"Looks like we might be without Monta for a while," coach Don Nelson said. "He's not doing very well today. I would assume we'd not have him a couple of games."

Ellis says his foot is stiff, sore and in pain, but he wouldn't rule out playing tonight as Golden State tries to end its eight-game road losing streak. The Warriors are officially listing him as a game-time decision, which is only appropriate given how Ellis' game-time decisions are increasingly coming under scrutiny.

The second-year guard has been rushed into starting duty this season, partly because of injuries to Jason Richardson and Baron Davis, and partly because of Nelson's willingness to mold Ellis into a point guard.

His learning curve has been steep. Ellis is committing turnovers at an alarming rate. He has 17 miscues in three games on the Warriors' road trip and is averaging 3.65 per game this season.

Two of Ellis' 17 turnovers came in the fourth quarter against Phoenix as he tried to post up Steve Nash. Three came on charging violations against the Raptors. Two more came in the fourth quarter against the Nets on a bad pass and traveling violation.

"A lot of those can be cleaned up (by getting) him to focus on the defensive players more so than the offensive player," assistant coach Keith Smart said. "He probably has three turnovers a game because of charging, so you got to get to: 'Look at the defender in front of me. I'm coming to the basket, so rather than me trying to (drive) ... I see you not moving, I got to pull up for a jump shot.' "

Ellis also has been a frequent target for palming violations since Nuggets coach George Karl complained to officials during a game last month. Though Ellis is working on his technique, he also believes he is a victim of circumstance.

"It's just players complaining about it so much, that's when they start calling it," Ellis said.

Same goes for the charging violations.

"Every time the (referee) calls that and I tell them look at it at halftime, and they come back out and tell me, 'It was my bad. It wasn't a charge. It should've been a block,' " he said. </div>

I wonder if JRich is even going to play. His comeback was short and silent, and I don't think he played much in the 2nd half. His knee probably swelled up again. If JRich is out too, then we have like 7 able bodies left on the roster lol

I think part of the reason Jason didn't play in the second half was because he was on the bench for a long time before then. Also Don Nelson thought it would be smart to just let him rest and take the rest of the game off after he got tight and such sitting on the bench and since he knows his knee isn't completely well now. I think JAson will be able to start like he has previously. I am not sure if he will play significant minutes though. There might be a better chance of it if he stays in the game and is not sitting for a long time while his leg stiffs up and then has to go back in. And with limited players there might be a higher chance that he doesn't see the bench so frequently.

However if JRich can't start, who do you think joins the starting lineup? Do you think Don Nelson would go with Baron/Pietrus/Barnes/Biedrins with Murphy, or Diogu, or POB in the front court. Or do you think Dunleavy will start as the SF or PF?

    This will be interesting.

Haha I like how Monta talks to the refs. That is pretty cool.
