Has got to be Shane Battier. I hated (and still do) Duke because Coach K whines about every call, acts holier than thou and gets all the recruits. Therefore, I did not like Battier at Duke but watching him in the NBA, especially last week when I got to watch the Rockets, I love his game. Its so sound defensively and offensively. He does everything and anything needed to try and win. He hits open Js, and plays awesome D. He's physical yet quick. He'd fit perfectly in Miami or with the Lakers or the Warriors and is a perfect fit with Yao and McGrady (not Bonzi or Alston).
My favorite non-Warrior is Martin Scorcese, since I'm fairly certain he won't hit any buzzer beaters against the W's anytime soon.
It has to be Nash, for a skinny white guy he just does amazing things and makes them look effortless. I also have a lot of respect for Derek Fisher as a human being (I hated him when he was a Laker), I just don't care for various parts of his game. And Lebron seems like a solid guy as well. Nike is forcing the superstar image on him, and he has what it takes to be a complete ass and get away with it, but he seems to keep his nose to the grindstone and just work hard every night.
New rule: No ex-warriors allowed My favorite non-warrior is probably tie between Steve Nash and Tim Duncan. Nash doesn't need to score to affect the game, but he can sure take those clutch shots in ridiculous fashion (shooting off the dribble/fading away). He was my favorite point guard next to Jason Kidd even before the MVP awards. Biggest gripe about Nash is he doesn't play much defense (Like Bibby, Cassell, NVE), but he's very aggressive throughout the game and he makes others better because he is a quick, smart, and complete nba guard. I like Tim Duncan because he proves you don't need to be that athletic to dominate inside, you don't need to pound your chest like Kmart or do the bulls horns that Darius Miles does. He's a quiet guy that affects the entire game because he plays inside and out on offense, and he's a terrific defender and offensive/defensive rebounder. He is what you need him to do. He is a coachable player and I think that is what superstars need to be if they want to be a champion. I also forgot to include Lebron James. I like him for similar reason to Duncan. Very mature character, but he's much more exciting like Steve Nash's passing and Jrich/Vinsanity's dunking and Kobe's drives. Lebron might not be the best shooter, but he can score like a league mvp, he can pass/handle it like a guard, and he's big enough to be a power forward at 6'8 @ 245 lbs. He's also extremely athletic, smart, and humble. But I think Lebron's best attribute is that he is so versatile like KG or Lamar Odom. You can play him anywhere except for maybe center. I have no favorite player overall because the positions and roles are so different from each other. So I just chose G, F, and F/C.
Chris Paul. The kid plays his heart out, he's a smart passer, he's good at getting to the hoop and he has so much confidence on the court, he looks like he's played for years in the NBA.
Hard to choose. I think I'd go with Nash. I'm bias towards great passing point guards because Stockton is my favorite player and that's the way I would want to play.
Kevin Garnett. I hope he manages to win a ring somehow. He is a great player. He is the man on defense, on the boards, and he is such a unique type of player/scorer on offense. He is unselfish (maybe too much?) but has a good solid game. The TWolves screwed up by losing all of those draft picks.
I can't say Baron anymore, he was always hands down my favorite. Now I'd say it's a tossup between Duncan, Nash, Garnett, JOneal and AK47. I love watching Kobe and Wade, but they are both premadonnas. I hate the way they always act hurt, pout and come back and play with no hitch. Iverson is another one that I respect on the court because he doesn't back down from anyone, but off te court is another story.
It would have to be Tim Duncan. Man, put Timmy on the Warriors and get rid of Murphy, Foyle and Dunleavy and we'd be contending for a championship next year . If I couldn't get Duncan, then KG. Put KG on the Warriors and get rid of Murphy, Foyle and Dunleavy and we'd be contending for a championship soon .
My vote is LArry Ellison.... If and when he owns this franchise he will be a lot of fans favorite player? currently it is Brandon Heath...gonna be a great combo guard at the nba level. I hope the dubs steal him in the second round.
well since Arenas doesn't count, i would have to say Paul Pierce. Pierce, to me, is the best all around shooting guard in the NBA. he has a complete game. he can shoot from long range, mid range, and he even has some nice post up moves inside. he's also unselfish, can hit the clutch shot, has great handles, and he's a great passer with PG-like court vision, rebounds like a power forward, gets to the line at will, and plays solid defense as well. Plus he's from Oakland . The only knock on him is that he turns the ball over quite a bit, but that can be attributed to him being Boston's primary ball handler.
