I have been reading a lot of speculation on what the Vikings are going to do now that Pepp has been traded. A lot of fans here want us to move up to the #2 spot by trading our 1st(17), the Miami 2nd, and a 3rd rounder to New Orleans for the second spot. From there we could easily pick up Leinart. Now I am a HUGE fan of picking up Leinart, but I don't know if this would be doable. Since I'm not a great draft mind, I'd be interested in what you guys think...can this be done?
It makes sense, since they are in need of a successor to Culpepper now. I don't know if they'd trade their third round pick in the deal too, although that'd still leave them with their original second round pick, and then acquiring the first rounder from the Saints, picking up Leinart. I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, because I want Young in Tennessee, but I have a bad feeling that they won't get him. I'm really thinking that the Titans are leaning towards Leinart if he's there, and if not, then who knows? Maybe Cutler, even though I think third is a little high for him, they might still do it.
Leinart would be a great fit for the Vikings offesne. Almost too perfect. Whether the Saints want to give up a prospect like D'Brickashaw Ferguson or Mario Williams is the question. I don't see them moving down. The Vikings could move up to the Jets or 49ers spots and take Jay Cutler or Vince Young above the Raiders. Right now I see Leinart going to Tennessee.
If we pickup Young I think I'll have to make baseball my favorite sport. I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about Young. I think the guy has bust written all over him.
It makes sense but I don't think NOLA moves to far down and picks up Mario Williams. I can see the Raiders moving up to grab Vince Young and see Ferguson landing w/ the jets.
I think the Raiders are the best partner to trade with. They want a QB, and Leinhart is can come in from day one and start. Cutler would take a year to be a good QB, but Cutler has a whole lot more of an arm.
Latest rumor... Some people think the Vikings might be able to take the No. 51 pick from Miami, their own No. 17 and No. 48 overall picks, plus trade a player or two (perhaps Jim Kleinsasser and/or Nate Burleson), to New Orleans for the Saints' No. 2 overall pick. With the No. 2 pick, the Vikings probably would have their choice of quarterbacks: Matt Leinart of Southern California, Vince Young of Texas or Jay Cutler of Vanderbilt. Each of them would command a signing bonus of at least $20 million. Interesting. I'd be willing to look at a trade like that.
Geesh that's a lot to give up though. I think you have a better shot of getting a solid player(s) in 3 picks than in one even if that pick is the #2. If they can't get Schaub through a trade though then it does make some sense. That asking price is nasty though.
That's way too much to give up. It would be the 2nd worst trade right behind the Herschel Walker trade.

I don't that the trade was bad but I think that we could of used that pick a little wiser. I guess Williamson could work out. I got to give him a couple more seasons before I can pass judgement on him.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>how can u say that when Moss hasnt done shit in Oakland yet?</div> 8TDs/ 1000+ yards. For most recievers that's a great year. For Moss it sucks. Granted, he was playing in a new system that IMO does not use him correctly, he played injured a good part of the year, and he played with a team that according to reports has a ton of infighting.
I read the dumbest thing ever in ESPN magazine. It was talking about reggie bush, and they said since the deshaun foster is iffy they could trade all their picks in the draft to get to the #1 spot. 1. Bush isnt the panthers type of back 2. Panthers need a LB not a RB

Moss get's 1000 yards 8 TD's and he's a wash out. Burelson gets that and he's the next big thing.. hmmm expectations...
