Completely ignore this pathetic video. This song was one of my favorites when I moved from Virginia to back to California in the middle of my HS years. I was pretty depressed at the time, so that explains why the lyrics really expressed how I felt.

You're right, that video definitely didn't fit the song. [IMG]

I really wasn't feeling the music personally, but I can see where you're coming from with being depressed and this being the kind of music you fell into. I personally listen to a completely different style of music as an outlet for depression, but like I said, I can definitely see where you're coming from with this song, so I gave it a decent rating. Man, changing high schools half-way through... can't imagine.

Brilliant. I love that song, the finish was so climatic, as well.

I just found this on Youtube - it's a recording of Pete Droge's 'Small Time Blues' from the movie 'Amost Famous'. I've searched and searched for this track on an album, but can only find the regular radio recording. This is a special cut just for the movie, and this is the scene it's in. The film is one of my personal favorites, and it's a very cool, chilled out song, IMO. Hope you guys enjoy...

They complement each other so well, it's very good, and the subtlety of the guitar is breathtaking. Good find.

As for mine, I couldn't find a YouTube link as we usually do it, but I found a streaming link over at MySpace. It's called Boom Boom Bap, it's the first song, it should automatically play. Enjoy...

Not my type of music at all, but it wasn't bad. Can't criticize it because there is nothing to criticize.

BTW, the video is made by a fan, it's not for the song.

Did anybody see The Last King of Scotland? I heard it was a terrible movie, but Whitaker's performance is f'n brilliant (I fully expect him to easily take BA award). Sasha, you seem like a big movie buff, so I'm mainly askin' you. BTW, How do you compare The Illusionist to The Prestige?

Rice is one of my favorites, so soothing, and comforting. Though 9 was a bit of a letdown, I really like this song. The climax reminds me a bit of Eskimo. Good stuff, here's mine...

It's from the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. The aria states the following more or less: "I am divine. I am oblivion. I am the god... that comes down from the heavens, and makes of the Earth a heaven. I am love!... I am love." It's one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen and it's the song that introduced me to the fine talent of Maria Callas and the world of opera. Try this too...

Not a huge opera fan, but it's real chilling sounding... especially with the "lyrics" you posted. Good mood music.

The movie reference made me think of my favorite love making scene in a movie. It's from Cruel Intentions where Sebastian meets Annette at the top of the escolator and has sex with herand it's real passionate and good. But yea, the song playing the whole time is Colorblind by Counting Crows which is a favorite of mine... so here it is.

Nice song, fits the movie very well. BTW, that "Well, I'm in love" line is awesome. I've never seen the movie, I thought it looked cheesy but that was good. Here's mine, with the lyrics provided.

    One word: annoying.

The music was decent, but the voice was extremely annoying, and she had nothing but a bunch of bullshit to say. This is one of the most esoteric pieces of garbage I've heard in a while. And what the hell is with the crowd cheering at a whole bunch of nothing? It's like, you get someone up on stage who speaks fastly and throws around words that sound important but have no meaning in the context, and you get them to throw around cliches, and people go wild cheering, like they've got some genius message.

Quite good, one of my favorites off of Talkie Walkie. BTW, have you heard the new album? It's fantastic.

    Here's my offering:

Spruance, Secret Chiefs 3's chief composer and a former guitarist for Mr. Bungle, is a visionary madman capable of instilling both fear and respect in his listeners. Secret Chiefs 3 have existed in various incarnations over the course of the past eight years, and have served as the funnel for Spruance's remarkably far-flung studies of the hermetic mysteries and musical traditions of unknown and underappreciated subgenres. Album titles like Grand Constitution and Bylaws and Book M hint at the music's vaguely metaphysical bent. Over three years in the making, Book of Horizons is Secret Chiefs' most expansive and coherent statement, an alchemical fusion of Morricone-esque cinematic grandeur, midnight surf guitar, traditional Middle Eastern rhythms and time signatures, demonic death metal, and electronic deviance that yields a work of undeniable force.

Nah, been kinda strapped for cash. I'm actually going to pick it up today though. Talkie Walkie is one of my all-time favs though... probably one of my top five most played albums I own, and I own a shitload of albums.

Cool song. I'm not huge into Damien Rice, but all of my friends love his stuff, so I've been listening to a lot of it lately just kinda by association. A bit of terrets going on there though... did I hear right? Like a rootless... **** you, **** you, **** you? [IMG]

Well, I guess I'll do the honors then. The following is a song by William Shatner...yes, that William Shatner and two guys knows as Lemon Jelly. They collaborated on his latest CD, and brought forth this masterpiece...

D, never knew William Shatner did music aswell. Wasnt really feeling the song at all, it wasnt too bad, just kind of too slow for me.

Even though I dont like Rock music very much at all, this is still one of my most favourite songs ever:

AT THE DRIVE IN = TEH ****! Greatest unknown imo... saw The Mars Volta w/Frusciante and Flea last summer actually... very underrated musicians...

    Dredg - A-

Didn't really get the video. I mean, a penguin, a person with down syndrome? Didn't really connect. You were right though - haunting music. I love Dredg; thanks for turning me onto them and Venus. I probably prefer Venus at the moment, but you can't really go wrong with either one. Both are two of the greatest unknowns out there (at least unknown in the sense that no one on the mainstream knows them).
