I didn't get to watch the game but Ike with 5 minutes? Now does anyone still think Nellie doesn't hate Ike? Hey, I'm glad they won, don't get me wrong, but Nellie really seems to have some bias against Ike, I don't get it. He performs well when given minutes and allowed to play.
Warriors vs. Orlando Dec 22, 2006 Woah. Missed the game. How'd it go? Let me guess before reading any post game articles or user comments: My guess is that Foyle was a big factor against Dwight Howard defensively and Baron Davis was on fire offensively. (I'm guessing that 240-245lb Biedrins is a little too light to be guarding Dwight Howard @ 266 lbs) They must be if we won because usually big men kill us inside and Foyle is best defensive player against stronger, heavier F/C's. Without Jrich or Ike maybe either one of Pietrus, Barnes or Dunleavy stepped it up and had a good scoring game in place of the injured. With Murphy out, defense @ PF was probably easier for C Foyle to not have to worry about covering the weakside constantly for multiple players. I really dread Foyle's game, but who else can defend as well as him on heavy matchups bigger than Tim Duncan? We probably shot the three ball well. I don't know how well we moved the ball, but maybe it didn't matter if Baron was making shots going 1 on 5. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I will read the post game article in about two hours or so or hear it from the guys who've watched the game all the way through. I want to know how good I am about guessing or jumping to conclusions about the Warriors. Thanks!
Ahhhh mistake! I think Tim Duncan isn't that much smaller than Dwight Howard pound for pound. I thought Dwight Howard was about 15 lbs heavier. Oh well maybe Biedrins could have broken out against Howard because they are closer strength physical matchups with one another, but I thought since Biedrins wasn't really raved about in recent games, Foyle could have been inserted to force more misses, play more post D so we can stop the other team from scoring and then run the break.
Well i saw the game and my take is similar to the boston game. Baron simply was not going to allow us to lose. He put us on his back and carried us the whole game with ellis, foyle and dunleavy stepping up at times. The first half we hung about 7 points down most of the half while hill diced up and ariza always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Ike got in the game. He looked like he had to prove something and was aggressive, unfortunately when he got the opportunity to make a move, just like the boston game he slid his pivot foot travelling and the very next second AB back in the game and we dont see Ike again. The second half we came out aggressive and ran every chance we could. Early in the 4th we caught them and never relinquished the lead. MP took an elbow to the nose came out of the game and the poor guy, who played a solid game despite struggling with his base line 3 point shot, entered the game later only to take another elbow from Howard and this time left holding his nose reported to be broken. A new member to the mask club? Which worries me the most was AB took a hard fall on his wallet after contesting a Milicic shot. He laid on the floor in pain slowly ambling to the bench holding his lower back. When Pietrus broke his nose both went to the locker room, AB clutching his lower back the whole walk off the floor. Neither player returned. WE kept about a 7 point lead for most of the 4th.... a miracle 3 point bank shot by dunleavy... shot clock down to nothing the ball got slapped out to dun after a previous air ball he caught and threw it up .... good off glass.... a few possessions later dunleavy pretty much closed the deal nailing a really deep three in rhythm. WE still got killed on the glass, but the best news is as a team we kept our turnovers down, especially baron and Monta. J-rich was a non factor again. Miami could be ugly who knows who will be healthy to play. Side note : if you guys hear the miami heat broadcast, the play by play guy is the worst in the nba ....it is like listening to a saturday night skit.... so bad

I guess Ike had a rough start and never got a chance to get into the game. If every Warrior who starts out a game 0-2 with a turnover was pulled, we would have forfeited a lot of games this year. I saw the part when Beans went down, that looked bad and I am concerned. Even if it's nothing serious I think he's going to be hurting for tonight's Miami game. Get ready for Adonalmania I guess.
Boogielew, much thanks for the report! I'm glad that Foyle, Dunleavy and Ellis had some good moments because I'm really rooting for them to provide a little bit of interior defense (Foyle) and better ball movement (Dun) and better dribble drive penetration (Ellis). I hope Biedrins and Ellis are okay because we sort of need them for Miami. They can add to the inside outside presence we've been lacking since the Fisher/Foyle/Murphy days. Also, it's a good thing that Baron is not injured because he's basically carrying the team it sounds like. It no longer used to be where we could win games without him and "trade Baron" comments started surfacing. I think at the times when Baron was injured and we actually won, Murphy was not in that lineup a few times, but I'm not so sure it was like that everytime. Maybe interior/perimeter defense or points off turnovers could have been a factor during the times when it was Fisher, Jrich, Pietrus, or Ike/Foyle playing when there was no Baron or Murphy. I remember there were a few cases where that was argued on espn or realgm or here. I think it totally depended on the team we were facing because matchups at pg or pf could get us killed if we had Murphy or Fisher jacking shots and them getting burnt in transition. Plus, contribution from Dunleavy and Foyle was different in every game. Never knew what you'd get from them at times... Also, I hope Nelson gives Ike plenty of chances to prove himself. Everytime I watch him he's really good for his PF role, even when not scoring. He seems very fluid, tough, and intelligent to me. I hope Dun and Ike can give this team some chemistry and good numbers, and protect Baron Davis.

When he has monster nights not many people talk about it, but when he has a bad night everyone gets on his back and wants to trade him. Fans are a little too quick with their judgment, like you said when we were winning without Baron people thought we should trade him and let TO King take the lead PG role. If he was still injured, theres no way we'd be .500 right now. I think he's doing a pretty good job considering what players Mullin surrounded Baron with.
Exactly, I totally agree with you AF. I think Baron does get selfish a little bit too much, but maybe that's the rest of the team's fault for not getting open for him and Mullin for not making any good moves to compliment Baron Davis inside the painted area. That's I appreciate guys like Ike, Beans, Jrich, and Dunleavy who seem to be more active in getting open, finishing around the bucket, or getting the ball back to Baron. It's why I've dreaded guys like Fisher and Murphy, who are good shooters, but they don't make anyone better at the positions they play. They typically need other players next to them to compliment their games. Totally disliked the Foyle signing because he's just so clumsy, but he does some good things for us defensively. Lord knows we need some defense so we can pressure the ball back down court. But I think small ball is overrated anyway. Personally, I think we need to pound the ball inside if that 3 point shot ain't falling. At least we have a chance to take a 18-20 footer with the D collapsing inside and the kickout pass from the post. We could use screens and rolls like philsmith suggested, but I've never seen this Warriors club set good screens and roll off of it like good big teams do. Plus, how many players on this team are experts are midrange marksmanship? Everyone just tries to dribble penetrate on isos and the others just stand around. Barnes and Pietrus in particular kills the offense IMO. At least Jrich will try to cut around or go off the screen where he can catch the ball and hit the set shot. The other guys who try to do spot up shooting, just fail to connect or they aren't fast enough in getting open or smart enough to stay out of the way.
